The Culture of Life Studies Program of the American Life League provides an excellent program to teach children . . . to understand and embrace the culture of life. A champion of life In addition to being a champion of the faith and zealous pastor of souls, Cardinal Burke is also a champion of life. At a medical ethics conference in Columbus, Ohio, in February 2017, Cardinal Burke bravely defended life. “Our country suffers the scourge of an attack on the dignity of human life,” he said. “Catholic health care, by its constant and careful attention to the perennial moral teaching of the Church, safeguards and promotes the respect for all human life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death,” he continued. “It stands as a beacon of light, the light of Christ, in a society which finds itself confused about the most fundamental truths, about the nature of human life, and about the vocation of man and woman to follow Christ in His suffering and dying.” 5 A culture-of-life hero, Cardinal Burke was presented with the Law of Life Achievement Award this past May in Rome, Italy, though he technically received the award in absentee on January 26, 2017 at the Law of Life Summit in Washington, DC. At the January summit, John-Henry Westen said that Cardinal Burke “has suffered a great deal for the cause of life and family. He has cheerfully borne this suffering, his public humiliation that he has received from all quarters. Every time you speak with him, you will hear his concern that has nothing at all to do with himself, always for the faith, for life, and for family.” 6 To these words and the reception of the award, the cardinal responded: “I’m very honored to receive this award. I hope to continue to be able to suffer for the faith inspired by this recognition.” You can see why Judie Brown was proud to stand next to Cardinal Burke at the Fatima Centennial Summit—as seen on the cover of this issue—and why she said that Cardinal Burke’s “very presence there [the Fatima Centennial Summit] reminded us of the meaning of true devotion to prayer and action and the importance of taking the Lord’s loving message to a world in need of truth and justice.” Inspired by Cardinal Burke’s zeal for truth and justice, ALL’s Culture of Life Studies Program is taking the Lord’s loving message of life to the youth. CLSP provides the tools and resources for the students of today to build a culture of life for the world of tomorrow. In light of this mission, ALL is honored to have the following endorsement from Cardinal Burke: In order to establish a culture of life, it is essential that children be educated, from their earliest years, to know the truths about the gift of life, of marriage, and of the family so that they can become adults who will embrace the culture of life in all their thinking and in all aspects of their daily living. The Culture of Life Studies Program of the American Life League provides an excellent program to teach children, from their very earliest years through their teens, in an age-appropriate, consistent and systematic way, to understand and embrace the culture of life. I am happy to recommend the Culture of Life Studies Program for use in the home, in schools, and in other programs. 7 Thank you, Cardinal Burke!
