GOVERNMENT MAKING A difference GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS The following citizens were appointed by the Greenwood Village City Council to serve on the various Village boards and commissions: Sarah Dormer, Youth At-Large Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission Sarah is a junior at Cherry Creek High School and participates on their cross country and track teams. Outside of school, Sarah loves to be outdoors, involved in activities such as hiking, skiing, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Sarah is a lifelong Greenwood Village resident, and has enjoyed Village parks and programs from her time on the playgrounds and Fun-in-the-Sun participation to now using the Village Greens Mountain Bike Course. She has been involved with several tree planting projects related to Arbor Day and her Girl Scout Silver project. She is currently seeking her Girl Scout Gold project which will involve her hosting a pollinators educational class and building activity at the Village’s Earth Day event scheduled for April 21, 2018. Sarah has always been a big believer in helping the earth and preserving our parks and is incredibly excited to be able to work with the Parks, Trails, and Recreation team! Eric Montag, District 4 Board of Adjustments and Appeals Eric and his family have been Greenwood Village residents for 20 years. He and his wife Susan have three children, all of whom attended Cherry Creek Schools. For more than 10 years, he served as board member and treasurer to their neighborhood Homeowners’ Association. In that role, he was a neighborhood liaison to Greenwood Village and acted as the primary contact for roofing approvals and appeals. Eric has dedicated many years to supporting local youth athletics, coaching and officiating at a variety of levels, and serving as an officer and longtime board member with a wide range of organizations. Professionally, Eric has more than two decades of strategy, finance and operations experience, and he currently owns a local industrial equipment sales business. He previously headed up the corporate strategy and finance functions at a major Denver based investment company and was an auditor in the Denver office of a Big 6 public accounting firm. Eric received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Colorado State University. Rasmani Bhattacharya, District 4 Planning & Zoning Commission Rasmani has lived in Greenwood Village for over 10 years with her husband Claude and three children, Phoebe, Max and Anna. She earned both her BA (1990) and JD (1993) at the University of Virginia, and has practiced law for almost 25 years. Her early experience was as a transactional attorney in private practice at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins in Houston, Texas. After moving to Greenwood Village, she started working as in-house counsel for the global manufacturing company Gates Corporation, most recently as General Counsel (until July 2017). Rash loves the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing in Winter Park. GOVERNMENT COMMISSION VACANCIES — DISTRICT 2 DEADLINE TO SUBMIT INTEREST FEBRUARY 23 The Greenwood Village City Council is seeking to fill a current vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments and Appeals in District 2. The City Council is looking for dedicated residents committed to encouraging, promoting and sustaining excellence in the Village to fill these vacancies. The Village is divided into four districts in which two members are appointed from each of the four districts. PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION The Planning and Zoning Commission is a decision-making group of volunteer citizens appointed by City Council. The Commission reviews and advises the City Council on public and private activities involving the physical, social, and economic development of the Village and prepares and recommends a Comprehensive Plan for the physical development of the community. The Commission also reviews development proposals and sign programs. The Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of eight members each serving two-year terms. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at City Hall. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS The Board of Adjustments and Appeals serves as a quasi-judicial appellate board of volunteer citizens appointed by City Council. The Board reviews and makes decisions regarding requests for variances from the strict application of the zoning ordinance, hears appeals to administrative decisions, and performs other duties and functions as may be designated by City Council. The Board of Adjustments and Appeals is made up of eight members each serving twoyear terms. The Board of Adjustments and Appeals meets on the fourth Thursday of every month (except for November) at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
