BUSINESS BUSINESSspotlight MY SCHOOL PRESCHOOL 5555 South Yosemite Street • 303-806-5127 www.myschool-preschool.org MY SCHOOL PRESCHOOL From a very young age, exploring and learning is an adventure that we pursue for our entire lives. Being able to freely gauge our world and develop our own individuality at an early age gives us the life skills to not only succeed in our lives, but thrive and reach goals that to others may seem unattainable. My School Preschool encourages children from the ages of 2-1/2 to 5 to expand their curiosity and to explore the world around them with their developing minds. One of their prime objectives is to teach these young minds to learn new skills and expand on their achievements. My School Preschool bases its teaching on Developmentally Appropriate Practices which focus on the whole child by developing Physical Skills, Social & Emotional Skills, Language & Literacy Skills and Thinking Skills. This style of teaching coincides with teachers focused on supporting the child to develop their own path of connecting new ideas and skills with what they have already learned and make sense of the world around them. My School Preschool’s classrooms are kept to smaller sizes and led by two certified teachers. Each room, naturally lit by large windows, consists of a variety of different learning tools from hands on items, imaginative, creative and social items. Children are freely allowed to explore at their own pace while being guided as needed to help them overcome challenging obstacles or be encouraged to try something new. Class structure is designed to encourage children to make connections from designing an art project based on a prior reading to developing a hypothesis for science experiments. My School Preschool’s focus is helping children explore and develop their thinking skills. My School Preschool expands on their curriculum by organizing in-house field trips that include museums, storytellers, dancers, musicians and many other exciting groups to come and share their knowledge. Also offered is an after-school enrichment program that includes classes such as Spanish, Soccer, Cooking and Ballet. My School Preschool also has a Parent/Toddler program for children 12 months old and up. These classes are designed to help you teach your children social skills along with building relationships and establishing comfort with fellow families and teachers. This allows the sharing of different education classes and teacher/parents skills to assist the child in independent learning outside of school. My School Preschool was founded in 1971 in Littleton, Colorado and relocated to Greenwood Village in 2008. The Village has been a great location for My School Preschool to grow and become a stable place for children to learn. Executive Director Tori Roedel stated, “Greenwood Village is the perfect balance between residential and business. The Village has the benefits of a quiet suburb which includes things like parks and outdoor areas, but centrally located allowing people to easily make it to our school on their way to work without having to go out of their way.” Greenwood Village has been beneficial for My School Preschool giving them a beautiful and safe city to teach children, along with reaching out to new families. My School Preschool boasts a full-size gymnasium, outdoor fenced-in playground and a designated art room. It is located at 5555 South Yosemite Street in Greenwood Village, tucked behind Saint Catherine’s Church. Tours are now available for their 2018-2019 classes. BUSINESS MEMBER spotlight CITYWIDE BANKS FLASHING BACK TO MOMENTS IN COLORADO HISTORY During 2018, Citywide Banks is celebrating its 55th Anniversary as a Colorado focused, community bank. Its roots go back to July 1963, when it converted an old tire shop on Colfax Avenue to open its first branch. The bank, which has recently expanded to 25 locations across metro Denver, Boulder, and the mountains, has seen a lot of changes take place in Colorado. For fun, Citywide Banks has compiled a list of its most memorable moments in Colorado during the bank’s first 55 years. And, no, this is not a list about banking advancements throughout the decades. Did you know that Disney tested new ideas for its parks at Denver’s Celebrity Sports Center? Who can forget the Balloon Boy hoax that captivated the Front Range in 2009. It is such a wonderful organization. I have met so many incredible people who have helped me grow on so many levels.
