Original Title Lulu - bankrøverens kone
Ready for broadcast summer 2009
A 12 part series filled with plot,
drama, action and love.
Lulu is a charming and independent
mother of two with her own hairdressing
salon in the suburbs. She
lives with Leon, the charismatic
father and habitual criminal, who
she has been seeing for 10 years.
But when Leon is thrown in jail Lulu
is forced to deal with a world she
knows to exist but has no experience
with.
In order to make ends meet, and
while also trying to help Leon get
out of jail, Lulu is forced to interact
with Leon’s criminal network.
She comes face to face with a
male dominated underworld full
of gangsters, shady characters,
Estonian hookers and of course,
the charming but corrupt criminal
detective Patrick Smith, whom Lulu
soon develops feelings for. She
starts off with an acute cash flow
problem and is forced to pick up
a little cash from Memeth, a used
car salesman from the suburbs,
and ends up as part of a huge plot
to rob a money transport from the
Federal Reserve carrying an unusually
large amount of unmarked
Euros.
Woven into this fascinating and
elaborate plot are a series of easily
identifiable stories. How will she
find the money to pay her em-
ployees now that the police have
frozen her assets? How will she
ensure fixed boundaries for her
7-year-old son who suffers from
Asperger’s Syndrome in these
turbulent times? How will she explain
to her teenage daughter the
pitfalls of dating a gangster, when
she is dating a gangster herself?
On top of excitement and action
Lulu finds herself in a situation
where she has to choose between
two men. On the one hand, there is
Leon; the habitual criminal whom
she loves and who does so much
for her and her children but at
whose hand she also feels repeatedly
betrayed. On the other, there
is Patrick; the attractive policeman
who seems to be able to give Lulu
the comfort and stability she seeks
but who also has deep cracks in his
façade when closely scrutinized.
The oldest of the team,
Iceland is spiraling out of control.
In recent years the criminal scene
has seen an evolution from simple
petty crime into more mature and
dangerous crimes, involving intellectual
criminals and international
crime organizations. The desperate
attempt by the police to deal
the series. The inner conflict of the
That concept mixes nicely with the
the face of the enemy
the vietnamese who fought in the american war
Director Erik Pauser
Producers Erik Pause & Dylan Williams
Produced by Brandklipparen & AMP Film
for DR, SVT & YLE
Duration 52 & 85 min.
Year of production 2009
Original Title The Face of the Enemy
Over four million Vietnamese died
in what one side calls the Vietnam
War and the other side calls the
American War – this is the story
from the other side
It was a war so brutal that it has
been described as their ‘own’
Third World War by the Vietnamese.
In this rare instance , history
is written by those who lost the
war. Whilst countless stories have
been told from the American point
of view, most often reducing the
Vietnamese to faceless shadows,
very little has been heard from the
other side. Meanwhile the official
Vietnamese line is to continue issuing
purely one-dimensional propaganda.
The Face of the Enemy tells the
story of the Vietnamese that
fought in “The American” war, in
their own words. Whilst for the
most part following the chronology
of the war, the film focuses
more on the personal stories of
these characters than on the main
events of the war. Here the veter-
ans have the chance, often for the
first time, to recall the experiences
that changed their lives. Who
were the Vietnamese who fought in
the war? How did they sustain their
morale in the face of such overwhelming
odds...?
An inspiration has been Peter
Davies’ film Hearts and Minds from
1975, whose relevance has been
merely re-strengthened with the
passage of time. The title of the
film refers to a speech given by
Lyndon B. Johnson in which he proclaimed
the escalation of the US
involvement in Vietnam and where
he claimed: “The ultimate victory
will depend on the hearts and
minds of the people who actually
live out there”. Whilst Davis’ film
looks closer at the Americans, this
film looks at the other side.
formerly of the Soviet Army - a man
who held the fate of the world in
in history one night in 1983. When
Charles Darwin
Available in HD
A 150-year-battle between Science
and Religion.
Around the world today, vastly different
religious groups join forces
with a bold and common purpose –
to discredit and destroy a scientific
theory that is threatening their
very existence. Their enemy comes
in the form of a simple, mortal
man. His name is Charles Darwin.
And millions of people continue to
believe he was a vicious heretic and
the most dangerous scientist who
ever lived.
Darwin’s publication of the Origin
of the Species introduced the Bible
to a new and extremely dangerous
foe: the Theory of Evolution.
This theory, which contends that
human’s descended from primates,
continues to outrage religious
leaders as their congregations
grow smaller and their worldview is
dismissed as archaic. This film pro-
vides a fascinating glimpse into the
ongoing battle between Science
and Religion and into the private
lives of Darwin’s closest allies and
fiercest opponents in the USA,
Turkey, Sweden and the UK.
Sweden is home to Scandinavia’s
most aggressive Darwin critics.
Academics from various fields
gather in church to deliberate the
impossibility of Evolution. They are
treated as social outcasts but
their goal is to have Creationism
(a literal translation of the Bible)
taught in public schools throughout
Sweden and beyond.
The USA fights Darwin’s theories
like no other country on Earth.
Pastor Michael Jackson is an Evangelical
Christian – one of 30 million
in America alone. Pastor Jackson
leads us through a church service,
an Anti-Darwin fuelled family
meal and finally to a school where
children are taught that the Earth
was created by God in 6 days and
that modern science is filled with
malicious lies.
Interestingly, Darwin’s Christian
opponents are not alone. They find
some shocking allies in a group of
extravagantly wealthy Turkish Muslims
who spend millions of dollars a
year sending Anti-Darwin educational
literature around the world.
Their spiritual leader, Harun Yahay,
speaks to us from his private
television studio and explains how
Darwin is to blame for fascism,
capitalism, imperialism and terrorism.
Nothing suggests that the war
between Science and Religion ends
here. Quite the contrary: the battle
lines have been drawn. Darwin’s
Violent Legacy marches on…

Duration 52, 58 & 90 min.
Original title Brave New Art World
Available in HD
In a world of bubbles the contemporary
art bubble turned out to
be the biggest bubbliest bubble of
them all - until it burst
The art world said it was a new
Golden Age, built on talent that
could go on forever. Reality told
something else. The contemporary
art bubble blew bigger and lasted
longer than the credit bubble, the
property bubble and the oil bubble.
Prices for contemporary art increased
800% from 2003 till 2008.
In the peak of this boom a Rothko
sold for $73 million, a Warhol for
$71 million, a Bacon for $86 million.
Works by Chinese contemporary
artists were auctioned for $10
million, and works by Damien Hirst
and Jeff Koons for $20 million.
Works by others rose in value between
twenty and eighty fold since
2003. This was the tulip fever of
the early twenty-first century.
Now that bubble has burst. Sotheby’s
and Christie’s estimates for
their auctions in February 2009 are
just 25% of what they were in February
2008. Prices for leading artists
like Hirst are down 50% and falling.
The virtually unimaginable amounts
of money generated by the credit
boom of the last ten years – the
unregulated activities of hedgefunders,
the asset and commodity
bubbles of property, oil and minerals
– are just the starting point for
the contemporary art boom.
The film uncovers a darker story of
speculation, greed and deception -
the ingredients of a classic bubble,
and how skilful operators in the art
market – the auction houses and
dealers – persuaded the new rich
to part with ludicrously large sums
of money for art, taking advantage
of the unregulated nature of
the art market to push up prices
through the auction rooms.
Two films about Thai women and
their pursuit of a European husband
Love on Delivery and Ticket to
Paradise are both touching, tragic
and at times humorous tales of
strong, decisive women who see
themselves as entrepreneurs in
a globalized world rather than
victims of poverty and prostitution.
They make great sacrifices
love on delivery
What is the attraction of living in a remote fishing
community in northern Europe? Still, this is where
575 Thai women have settled, all married to local men.
Fifteen years ago, there were almost none. But Sommai,
a former sex worker from Pattaya, was there.
Now, she and a group of other industrious and strong
Thai women are trying to find a husband for Sommai’s
young niece Kaeh, who is in Denmark on a three-month
tourist visa.
ticket to paradise
In north east Thailand lies a small village with two
types of families: Those who have a daughter married
to a Westerner and those who have not. The first live
in concrete mansions the latter in wooden shacks.
Sommai was the first to leave the village. Now she
is back with her Danish husband wearing gold chains
around her wrists. Girls flock around her, all hoping
that she will help them find a husband, as she has done
for many others. Hand in hand with their mothers they
approach her with pictures she can distribute to willing
men when she goes back home.
And the story has repeated itself
ever since – different resources
but the same greed and brutality.
Until a few years ago the exploitation
of the mineral Coltan, used in
civil war in Congo. A conflict that
resulted in millions of deaths.
taking place in meetings and corridors,
thrown the Union into a momentary
to make the most of her life as a
self-employed artist is inspiring.
When Alison finds out that she has
accidentally become pregnant she
decides to have the baby. A decision,
which throws up a barrage of
thorny questions. How does a single
woman with no arms look after a
helpless child? Will the baby be born
normal, or disabled like its mother?
artist Alison Lapper gave birth to
a healthy baby boy, Parys. The early
physical problems: how to change
diapers, how to breast feed, and
how to cope with constant tiredness,
have gradually given way to a
new set of difficulties. Parys has
grown up to be a very extrovert and
assertive boy. He is now a walking
and talking toddler, sweet and
funny, but very hard to handle at
times and quite a challenge for a
a tribe she spent 12 months living
with a long time ago. Now, ten
years later she is returning to the
jungles of Borneo to find and get
reacquainted with her lost tribal
family. The woman has no living
family in her home country, Norway,
and she has set out on this journey
to find a new purpose and meaning
to her life. But ten years is a long
time and will the tribe be as eager
remove Alison’s baby if they don’t
think she can cope as a mother…
but she takes everybody by surprise.
