must have when studying?
One essential I must have
when studying is listening to
music.
What do you like to do when
not in school or studying?
When I am not in school
of studying, I like to play
sports and hang out with
friends.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be a
lawyer or singer/actress.
What are some of your most
played songs on your iPod?
Some of the most played
songs on my iPod are:

What is one thing people
don’t know about you?
One thing people don’t
know about me is that while
playing a softball game, I
got hit in the face with a 12
inch ball while up to bat.
To whom do you look up to
and why?

I look up to my Great
Grandpa because he was in
the Air Force and helped
protect bases, guard missile
sites, and did rescues.
What do you keep under
your bed?
I keep nothing under my
bed.
Who is your favorite teacher
and why?
My favorite teacher is
Mrs. Sammon. She is my
favorite teacher because she
explains things at a decent
speed and lets us have time
to work on homework at the
end of class. She is also kind
and helpful.
What’s your favorite class
and why?
My favorite class is Math.
I like Math because I understand
it more easily than I do
my other classes.
What is one thing that
stands out about your
school?
One thing that stands out
about our school is how kind
everybody is to one another.
There are also many activities
that cause us to make
more friends.

Marking 100 days at Rogus

Mrs. Deaton’s kindergarten
class from Dr. Julian Rogus
School had fun celebrating the
100th day of school on Feb. 2.
The students used an aging app
on one of their classroom tablets
to take a picture of themselves,
and then transform the picture
into what they would look like if
they were 100 years old.
The elderly wrinkles on their
faces made the students laugh,
and they were excited to complete
the second half of the project.
The students then used their
narrative writing skills to imagine
and write about what they
would do if they were 100 years
old.
The students used skills that
they have been working on all
year such as handwriting, sounding
out words, and correctly
forming sentences. They worked
hard and did a fantastic job with
this project.

Benet Academy
Student from Tinley Park
awarded honors
Benet Academy recently
announced its honor roll for
first semester of the 2017-
2018 school year. First Honors
are given to students
whose academic average
falls between 92-100 and
Second Honors for those students
between 85-91. Among
those awarded Second Honors
was freshmen, N. Colten
Palkon, of Tinley Park.

Park, earned a spot on the
dean’s list for fall 2017. The

Tinley Park native earns
dean’s list
Lean Schissler, an Elementary
Education major
from Tinley Park, has been
named to the dean’s list at
Butler University for the fall
2017 semester. Any degreeseeking
undergraduate student
earning at least 12 academic
hours of grade credit
in a given semester may be
placed on the dean’s list of
the college of enrollment if
the semester grade point average
is in the top 20 percent.
University of Illinois-
Springfield
Tinley Park resident honored
in dean’s list
Joshua A. Partyka, of
Tinley Park, was among a
total of 570 students were
slected for the fall semester
2017 dean’s list. In order to
qualify for the dean’s list, a
student must be an undergraduate
who took at least
eight graded semester hours
and maintained a gradepoint
average of at least 3.75
for the semester.
University of Illinois Institute
of Technology
Tinley Park resident achieves
dean’s list
Thomas Doyle, of Tinley
Park, achieved a 3.86 gpa
aty Illinois Institute of Technology
for the fall 2017 semester.
Every semester the
names of all under undergraduate
students who have
completed at least 12 graded
credit hours with a semester
gpa of 3.50 or better appear
on the dean’s list.
University of St. Mary’s
Five Tinley Parkers qualify
for dean’s list
The University of St.
Mary’s recently announced
the fall 2017 semester dean’s
list. Among those included
from Tinley Park included
Tara Enright, Kelly Cunningham,
Alyssa Furman,
Madeline Gallager, and
Morgan VanderWey. To
earn academic honors at
Saint Mary’s, a student must
achieve a grade point average
(GPA) of at least 3.6 on
a 4.0 scale and have at least
12 graded credit hours.
