Stunning scenery surrounds a favourite
caravan and camping park in the
heart of Glencoe, writes Bob Mather

I hooked up the test van and headed for
Glencoe to explore this beautiful part of
Scotland. As I drove by Stirling and Callendar
the rain was quite persistent, but as I entered
the Trossachs area the skies began to clear and
by the time I reached Tyndrum it had turned
into a lovely day. With the sun cascading over
the mountain tops, the drive through Glencoe
couldn’t have been better.
Arriving in Glencoe Village, I turned along
beside Loch Leven and into Invercoe Highland
Holidays’ caravan and camping park. As the
owner and his wife were taking a short break after
a busy summer season, it was his son Lorne
who welcomed me to the park. He wasted no
time in guiding me to a super pitch right on the
waterfront of the loch. With the sun high in the
sky, the view up the loch was at its very best,

with the water shimmering and the shadows
of the mountains highlighting the magnificent
view. After a little refreshment, I couldn’t miss
the opportunity to get the camera out and set
off round the park.
The main area of the Invercoe park consists
of both hard standing and grass pitches for
caravans and motorhomes. The loch-front area
is all hard-standing pitches, which each have
electrics, water and drainage.
There are plenty of grass areas for tents,
and a super camping kitchen structure gives the
campers all the catering they need. Toilet block
facilities are of an excellent standard, with
laundry and disabled areas included.

Having photographed most areas of the park,
I returned to the van for a quick cuppa before
heading out northwards with the car, taking
in the wonderful view every time I turned a
corner. I arrived in Fort William with the sun
still high in the sky – one of the few times I have
been in Fort William when the sun was shining!
After a couple of hours seeing the sights and
doing a little bit of shopping, I decided to have
a meal before returning to the park. I found a
