N’Delta agitators call for halt to cult-related killings

agitators, yesterday,
condemned the killings
and violence perpetrated
by cultists and other
gangsters in the region,
calling on susceptible
youths recruited by selfseeking
political leaders to
halt the madness.

NNPC GMD lauds Azikel Refinery

Managing Director of the
Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation,
NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru,
has lauded the progress of
work at the Azikel Refinery
site in Bayelsa State for
achieving 65 per cent
completion on stages I, II
and III.
Baru, in his goodwill
message delivered by the
Managing Director, Port
Harcourt Refining
Company, Shehu Malami,
made available to
newsmen in Yenagoa,
expressed optimism that the
refinery construction will be
completed soon to begin
onward dispensing of
refined petroleum products
to the public.
According to him, work
on the perimeter fencing,
loading gantry, security
unit and the administrative
building has attained
appreciable level of
completion while the core
refining modules of the
ISBL fabricated in Houston,
USA, will be freight on skid
and coupled at the refinery
site.

SPD, Mr Oke Idawane,
yesterday, said the party
was being repositioned to
take over power from All
Progressives Congress,
APC, at the national level.
He added that the party
was also re-strategizing to
win the Delta State
governorship election in
2019, noting that structures
were being put in place to
make the party more
formidable both at the
national and state levels.

an enlarged state
executive meeting of the
party, Idawane said the
SDP was out to push both
people of Warri South West
council in the House of
Assembly.

representatives, who will
continue and follow Daniel
Mayuku's footsteps to

Warri South-West. We are
calling on Mulade to

Groups advocate increase in
Amnesty Programme's
budgetary allocation

Environmental Justice,
NDAGGEJ, based in Warri,
Delta State, have called for
increase in the budgetary
allocation to the
Presidential Amnesty
Programme for it to cater for
the wellbeing of the
beneficiaries.
The groups said in a
statement by Dennis
Mene, President, INDI,
Samson Toga, President,
NDGG, Esimaje Okotie,
PRO, NDAGGEJ, that
despite the fact that Niger
Deltans benefited more in
the programme as a result
of the prudent
management of the funds
since Major-General Paul
Boroh (retd) took over the
coordination of the
programme, increment was
needed for more
beneficiaries to be trained
and engaged.
The groups urged the
coordinator of the Amnesty
Programme not to be
distracted from the prudent
and effective manner he has
been managing the
programme thus far and as
well urged him to ignore
the few who are not happy
in ensuring that all benefit
from the programme,
irrespective of ethnic
nationality, which is against
the old order of sharing the
money among few persons
from the region.
