Cech tips Ospina to start for
Arsenal against City
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech does not expect to
play against Manchester City in the Carabao
Cup final on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Football.
Arsene Wenger has opted to choose the Colombia
international for every round of the competition thus
far, and Ospina is expected to be handed a starting
spot at Wembley this weekend.
Cech, who won three league cups
with Chelsea, says being left out of
the final is just part and parcel of
being a footballer but admits being
a spectator is always difficult.
“At the start it was clear that it
was going to be like that,” said
Cech, when asked if Ospina would
play in the final.
“I will be there with the team supporting but I don’t
expect to play. It is always hard to watch any game
from the bench or even from the stand if you are not
selected..”

Coutinho’s
Barcelona home
burgled
Philippe Coutinho’s new home
in Barcelona was burgled on
Monday night while he was out
for dinner with his family.
The former Liverpool
playmaker returned to his home
in the early hours of Tuesday
morning to make the discovery.
Reports have it that the
burglars had left the property
before Coutinho and his family
returned and no significant items
of value were stolen.

Reports in Spain say Coutinho is
having building work carried out on
his house, which made it easier for the
thieves to access the property.
The Brazil international moved to
Barcelona from Liverpool in January
for a club-record £146m fee and has
since made seven appearances in the
league and cup, scoring on one
occasion.

Sevilla plan to
mark-out -out Sanchez

Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella has joked
that his side may have to ‘kill’ Alexis
Sanchez in tonight’s Champions League
last-16 clash with Manchester United.
Montella has taken a keen interest in
Sanchez’s career since the Chilean
joined Serie A outfit Udinese as a
teenager back in 2006. Sanchez
has only managed one goal
since joining the Red Devils in
January but Montella
believes the forward is
among United’s most
potent attacking weapons.
‘Maybe we could kill him or
knock him down or something,’
the Italian said in the lead-up
to the first leg. ‘I remember
Sanchez really well from his
time in Italy. ‘He has improved
a lot his style in his career and
he’s a really good player in
terms of the transitions and finding spaces, and
has a really good speed in attack.’
Sevilla left-back Sergio Escudero hailed
Sanchez’s ‘quality’ and ‘intelligence’ ahead of
the match. ‘We have a lot of respect for United
and, in Alexis Sanchez, they have a really good
quality player,’ he said. ‘We know him from
his time at Barcelona – he’s really intelligent
and he could be a big danger to us’’.

basketball tourney

AIkeja has won the 12 th edition of
Olaniyan Basketball tournament
held at the Victory Court in Ikeja
The boys from Airforce school
defeated Army Command School ,
Ikeja 34-22 in the final watched by
an excited crownd.
In the girls category,, Airfoce
school defeated Victory Grammar
School 20-11 , to record a cleansweep
of the trophies and cement its
name as the undisputed champions
of the school sports tournament..
Airforce Secondary School came
first, Army Command came second
and Victory Grammar School
placed third respectfully.

Christian F.I Olaniyan praised
the wonderful efforts of the
winners, losers and participating
schools for the maturity and
sportsmanship displayed during
the two day competition.

performances in the competition.
