Obahiagbon advocates politics without
bitterness

FORMER member of
the House of
Representatives, Mr Patrick
Obahiagbon, yesterday
urged politicians in Edo
state and the nation as a
whole to play politics
devoid of bitterness so as
to enjoy accelerated
development both in Edo
State and Nigeria as a
whole.

this shortly after he paid a
condolence visit to Mrs
Vero Iyahen, the widow of
late Senator Sunday
Iyahen, a world acclaimed
Professor of Mathematics,
said the deceased humble
life-style despite his
political and academic
backgrounds, needs to be
emulated by politicians so
that we can have a better
society.
According to
Obahiagbon, who is also a
former chief of staff to
former governor Adams
Oshiomhole, "the late
Professor Sunday Iyahen
was a role model for
politicians, would be
politicians, Benin youths
and the entire Nigerian
youths. We salute this great
visionary leader.
"A world acclaimed
mathematician, who taught
generation of Nigerians
and African students at
home and abroad and
brought hope, discipline
and knowledge to the
politics and development of
the Benins.
"We call on politicians in
Edo state and Nigeria as a
whole, to emulate this
worthy son from the great
land of Igodomigodo in
their politics and electoral
contests. He truly played
his politics devoid of
bitterness and acrimony.
His humble way of life
despite his intelligence and
political pedigree deserves
to be commended by
everyone," he stated.

on his 10th year coronation
anniversary on the throne.
Chairman of DPP in the
state, Mr Abel Okpegwa
in a statement made
available to newsmen in
Asaba, said the Uvwie
kingdom has remained
peaceful and investorfriendly
since the monarch
ascended the ancient
throne of his forefathers 10
years ago.
Okpegwa said “On
behalf of the members of the
Democratic Peoples Party,
DPP we wish to felicitate
with the Ovie and the good
people of Uvwie kingdom
on the 10th year coronation
anniversary of HRM
Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I.
Your Majesty, because your
reign has brought good
fortune in Uvwie kingdom,
it is almost unbelievable
that you are 10 years on the
throne.
“You have impacted so
much on Uvwie people and
the whole of Delta State and
Nigeria as you have
brought uncommon zest
and creativity to the throne
by ensuring unity among
various kingdoms,” adding
that “you did not only
brought peace and
tranquillity to the domain
but have also encouraged
togetherness and unity of
purpose at both state and
national fronts.
“You have shown that
with tolerance, Nigerians
can live together peacefully
as a people bonded with
common destiny. I
therefore commend you for
guarding against social
vices and encouraging
harmonious and peaceful
coexistence among the
youths."
