SITTING ON THE TERRACE
I know where I’ll be spending autumn evenings in the
city – The Terrace has come alive with several new
openings. It’s hard to resist Original Sin’s fine cuisine and
refreshments. Not willing to say goodbye to the sunshine
just yet, I’m still sipping on their Aperol Spritz this month.
If you’re feeling particularly indulgent, trust the chef and
try the five-course tasting menu, which is a delight from
start to finish. Start with the refreshing beetroot salad
and finish with the steak with gnocchi, both are standout
dishes that you’ll dream about for nights to come.

NITRO COLD BREW
If you’re still sipping iced coffees, it’s time you tried
something a bit stronger. Made famous by Stumptown
Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon, nitro cold brew
was originally served in a can. That said, there’s something
so satisfying about getting it from the tap, which you
can now do in Christchurch. The best place in town to
sample the good stuff is Coffee Embassy, tucked away on
the corner of Lichfield Street and Fitzgerald Avenue.
SAVOURY DOUGHNUTS
I’d eat doughnuts as my main course, if I could, and
thankfully Westend Stories (93 Cambridge Terrace)
is making my dreams a reality. If you’re yet to try their
pumpkin doughnuts head on over to this new central city
café as soon as possible. The delicious fritters are paired
with seasonal sautéed vegetables and poached eggs to
make it a complete meal. You’ll love the sleek interior for
business lunches and coffee breaks as well.
