My work responds to the fluidity of gender in this day and age, and the mode by which one woman
capitalizes on androgyny. I complicate the notion of binary (male vs. female, masculine vs. feminine),
presenting gender as performance. In my last body of work I photograph my daughter and her
babysitter, who also works as an androgynous fashion model for both male and female brands.
Describing herself as a “gender capitalist”, the model takes advantage of opportunities given to people
based on their perceived sex or gender.
