2.13 Āpātalikā (a.k.a. Vegavatī)<br />
This metre has 14 measures <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> odd l<strong>in</strong>es, and 16 <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> even, as<br />
with Vetālīya, but with a different cadence: −⏑⏑−×. In <strong>the</strong> <strong>Canon</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> most common forms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> odd l<strong>in</strong>es:<br />

<strong>the</strong> even l<strong>in</strong>es:<br />

We sometimes f<strong>in</strong>d syncopation produc<strong>in</strong>g different patterns <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
open<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se l<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
When it atta<strong>in</strong>s to its Classical form, it is <strong>the</strong>n known as Vegavatī,<br />
and is restricted to:<br />
