6 | March 15, 2018 | The winnetka Current news winnetkacurrent.com Tilly The Ford family of Winnetka Tilly is a 7-month-old Bernedoodle (half Bernese Mountain Dog and half toy poodle). She hails from Canada and joined the family in December. She loves snow and has spent the winter bounding through drifts, sticking her whole face into snow piles and laying down in the snow to cool off (even when it was single digit temps). Her passions are gloves, socks, mittens, hats and any other clothing she can steal out of the mudroom. She loves to play tug and try to fit in the family members’ laps (she’s 60 pounds, so that’s a load). She’s a big fan of all the wildlife in Hubbard Woods, though she’d be happier without the deer, coyotes and skunks. The Winnetka Current is always in need of pets for Pet of the Week. The complainant told police the caller made mention of a gun and had given instructions not to contact the police. The complainant knew the call was fraudulent and hung up, and police detectives are further investigating the incident. In other police news: NORTHFIELD March 2 • Brian J. Hrametz, 40, of Des Plaines, was arrested at 8:31 a.m. in the 200 block of Northfield Road for felony driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone and expired vehicle registration. Feb. 28 • Police responded to a residence in the 3100 block of Illinois Road at 8:03 a.m. for a report of an attempted fraud, where the resident told police he responded to a message which popped up on his computer screen indicating he needed to contact Apple Service. Upon making the phone call to the number provided on the screen, the resident was advised by a male voice that he needed to purchase $500 in Apple iTunes gift cards and provide the card numbers over the phone. The resident became suspicious and contacted police, “With this ordinance, you’re basically requiring more work from fewer people. You’re increasing the load per volunteer — and these people are all volunteers,” she said. Trustee John Swierk voiced support for the ordinance and wondered whether it was also necessary for the commission to include a member from the Environmental and Forestry Commission. Trustee Andrew Cripe also voiced support for and detectives are further investigating the incident. • David D. Connor II, 36, of St. Louis, was arrested at 9:49 a.m. at Happ and Willow roads for driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone and failure to yield turning left. • At 4:43 p.m., police responded to a home in the 300 block of Graemere Street after the resident complained about receiving a hone call from an unknown male saying he was an IRS agent. When the resident asked for the agent’s name, the male used profanity towards the complainant. Detectives are further investigating the incident. Feb. 27 • Marco A. Palacios, 62, of Chicago, was arrested at 12:44 p.m. at Willow Road and Walnut Avenue for driving on a suspended driver’s license and suspended registration. WINNETKA March 3 • A resident of the 300 block of White Oak Lane reported that some time during the overnight the ordinance, saying he would probably reduce it further if he could. “In group decisionmaking, you always talk about the ‘rule of seven,’” he said. “That’s why they make ‘[The] Magnificent Seven,’ not ‘[The] Magnificent Thirteen’... At a certain size, the group gets smarter. And when it gets beyond that size, it starts getting dumber. And I say that with all due respect to all the people that served on it — it’s just a function hours, their car parked in the driveway was damaged with an unknown object. Repair costs are unknown. March 2 • A resident of the 800 block of Locust Street reported that between midnight on Feb. 26-midnight on Feb. 28, someone sent the resident a fraudulent check to purchase an item for sale on Craigslist. There is no reported loss at this time. March 1 • A resident of the 1300 block of Sunview Lane reported that between noon on Jan. 2-noon on March 1, someone used their personal information to make unauthorized withdrawals from the resident’s BMO Harris Bank savings account.
