NEW HIGH
CHOLESTEROL SOLUTION
There is new hope on the horizon for
anybody with “bad” or raised LDL cholesterol.
PCSK9 inhibitors is a new
drug class that has been approved
recently and are available from your
doctor now. They block the
PCSK9 gene, which regulates
LDL cholesterol uptake
from the bloodstream.
During recent trials, patients who
had raised LDL saw their levels decreased
by 50 percent beyond
what statins produced. These
drugs have real potential to reduce
the risk of stroke or heart
attack that is caused by high
cholesterol and heart disease.
They will benefit anybody who
has familial hypercholesterolemia,
which people have
who were born with high
cholesterol levels. They offer
hope as well to individuals
who have
had a heart attack
or stroke and have
increased cholesterol
levels still.
