The vehicles were located on Maple Avenue, Illinois Road, Royal Lane and Catherine Street. In total, $24 of currency was reported to have been missing from the vehicles. “These are crimes of opportunity,” said Thomas Moore, a spokesperson for the Northbrook Police Department. “They will go look for vehicles that are unlocked and see what they can find.” Per Moore, police believe that the same party was responsible for all of the incidents. At 4 a.m. March 27, a vehicle from the 2700 block of Oak Avenue was stolen. The vehicle was located by Skokie police. Moore said it was “not for certain” that the same party was responsible but said “they can probably deduct that it was.” In other police news: March 29 • Unknown person(s) entered a vehicle parked at Granite City, located in the 900 block of Willow, by unknown means between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and removed a wallet. • Several checks were issued from the bank account of a resident of the 3000 block of Antelope Springs, totaling approximately $1,500, without their permission. • The Dominos store, located in the 1000 block of Waukegan, reported it has recently received online orders totaling approximately $2,500, which were found to have been completed with fraudulent credit cards. • Officers were dispatched to a burglar alarm at 7:19 p.m. in the 1900 block of Techny. Upon checking the area, they located a door that had the glass broken. Officers searched inside and were unable to locate any subjects. The business owner reported that several chainsaws appeared to be missing. March 28 • Two watches were found to be missing at 3:21 p.m. at RK Services, located in the 800 block of Waukegan. March 27 • Aliya Raza, 28, of Skokie, was charged with driving while under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol at 11:39 p.m. in the 3200 block of Dundee. • A resident of the 4000 block of Yorkshire Lane Don’t just list your real estate property... received a call at 2 p.m. from a subject who claimed to have been involved in an accident with the resident’s relative and that the relative was being held until funds were provided to the caller. The resident was able to verify their relative was safe. No loss was reported. • Erik Chutcay Bivian- Garcia, 32, of Prospect Heights, was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license at 2:07 p.m. in the intersection of Sanders and Picardy. March 25 • A resident of the 2000 block of Glendale Avenue reported they received a computer message that claimed they had a virus on their computer and supplied a number to call for repair. The resident stated that they called and gave an unnamed subject remote access to their computer and their bank account information to authorize the repair. Complainant stated that no charges were placed but they still reported it to their bank to flag any transactions. • One pair of Attraction Pilot sunglasses, valued at more than $600, was stolen at 4:07 p.m. from the Louis Vuitton store in Northbrook Court. March 24 • Kenneth C. Decker, 46, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft at 8:33 p.m. at Sunset Food. A worker reported they were aware of two subjects in the store that they recognized as offenders in past thefts from the store and stated they saw Decker place bottles of alcohol into a basket then leave the store without paying for them. Decker was processed and released on bond. March 23 • Genaro Mancilla, 38, of Highwood, was charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license and only one red taillight at 8:48 p.m. in the intersection of Sanders and Dundee. • An Apple iPhone was taken out of a jacket hanging on the back of a chair at 11:29 a.m. at the Starbucks located in the 1000 block of Willow Road EDITOR’S NOTE: The Northbrook Tower’s Police Reports are compiled from official reports found on file at the Northbrook Police Department headquarters in Northbrook.
