Do you have a future game programmer at home? Use blocks of code to explore the gaming world. Let their
imagination run wild in this multimedia adventure. They will create their own interactive stories, animated
adventures, creative comics, and games. They will learn drag-and-drop programming with Scratch; They
will take home a copy of their own game at the end of this Scratch programming class. It could be the start
of something BIG! We will also use programmable robots to better understand different coding techniques.
Students should bring a flash drive and headphones to class.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN THINKING: STEAM
This class will fuel the next generation of innovators. Using LEGOs and some of the newest technology programs,
students will explore a different concept in each class. The goal is to use technology and beam-and-peg construction to
understand how Geometry and Art along with Science and Engineering design (STEAM) work in unison to harmonize the
world around us. They will CREATE a skyscraper, school, stadium, bridges, houses, and more. We will use Video game
design techniques as well as modeling to understand 3D structures and how Color, Line and Shape help to visualize the
Golden ratio, Symmetry and Fractals. Students have a big building task ahead of them. These classes are hands on and
fun for all ages.
Lego Robotics – Machine Learning
Students will work together in small groups to design, construct and program your own intelligent robot (via PC) to
meet a variety of challenges and objectives. LEGO Mindstorms kits will allow you to explore: programing the RCS,
applying light sensors, touch sensors and working with wheeled and tracked robots. Objectives are selected to
challenge the students at a rate that is appropriate for their skill levels. This class is for the student who likes to be
challenged in a fun and friendly environment. The philosophy behind LEGO MINDSTORM is to allow you not only
to understand technology but also to become a creative master of it.
