Entering Gr 4 Beginning Cello and Bass
This class is for students entering fourth grade who are interested in playing the cello and string bass. There will be an
informational parent meeting on April 23rd about how and where to rent or purchase an instrument and more information
about the 4th grade orchestra schedule and expectations. Summer orchestra is not required to participate in fourth grade
orchestra.
Entering Gr 5 Continuing Orchestra
This class is for students entering fifth grade that played in orchestra in fourth grade. We will work on note reading,
intonation, posture and much more through exciting music that is appropriate for second year musicians.
Entering Gr 8 ALEKS Summer School Course (Math)
ln this math course, students will engage in a personalized learning experience. With the guidance of the Middle School
Math Specialists, each student will be placed in an appropriate math curriculum through ALEKS. ALEKS is a webbased,
assessment and learning system which uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly
what a student knows and doesn’t know. From that information, the Math Specialist will support the students through a
personalized learning path through ALEKS. The purpose of this class is for students to build upon their math skills so they
can be successful going into the following school year. This class will also place an emphasis on Pre-Algebra to prepare
students for the 8th grade Algebra 1 experience for all.
Entering Gr 4-5 Science
ln this class you will explore different science labs from density demonstrations, exploding marshmallows to creating a
balloon science experiment. Come explore multiple different topics in science and be a scientist for two weeks!
Entering Gr 4K Summer Program
The 4K summer program will provide your child with an opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, and academically by
practicing classroom routines and pre-literacy and math concepts in a fun and meaningful way. Children will engage in
large and small group hands on activities designed with the young learner in mind!
Entering Gr 6-8 Jewelry Making
Come have fun and learn how to craft your own awesome jewelry. Need that perfect piece of jewelry to match your
favorite outfit or dress, here the change to learn how to make it. During our two week in class, you will make various
pieces of jewelry, including earrings, two bracelets in different styles and an 18 inch necklace. We will have a variety of
different styles of beads to choose from.
Entering Gr 6-8 Scrapbooking
Come join in the fun and put your creativity to use in a Paper Crafting class. You will make two sets of note cards in
different techniques, six cards in various styles and finally craft two different 2 page layouts for scrapbooking. You will
learn about and use embossing techniques, layering on cards, 3-D effects, die cuts and borders. We will also make some
miscellaneous items like bookmarks and flowers.
