Ghost. This is just one of the books we will be reading and discussing during this summer’s book club. Also, students
Entering Gr 6-7 ALEKS Summer School Course (Math)
ln this math course, students will engage in a personalized learning experience. With the guidance of the Middle School
Math Specialists, each student will be placed in an appropriate math curriculum through ALEKS. ALEKS is a webbased,
assessment and learning system which uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly
what a student knows and doesn’t know. From that information, the Math Specialist will support the students through a
personalized learning path through ALEKS. The purpose of this class is for students to build upon their math skills so they
can be successful going into the following school year. The class will have a flexible schedule that will allow students to go
at their own pace. Classroom time will be available for students one hour a week to ask questions, work on ALEKS with
support from the Math Specialist, and collaborate with other students on math problems. The rest of the time will be spent
working on ALEKS outside of class. This will allow for more flexibility in completing the program. The Math Specialist will
be available via email to answer any questions or provide additional support.
