About you <strong>and</strong> your interest<br />
My name is Len Shaffrey <strong>and</strong> I'm a Professor of <strong>Clim<strong>at</strong>e</strong> Science in Department of<br />
Meteorology <strong>at</strong> the University of Reading <strong>and</strong> a Senior Scientist in the N<strong>at</strong>ional Centre for<br />
Atmospheric Science in the UK. My research focuses on how extremes such as storms,<br />
floods <strong>and</strong> droughts might respond to clim<strong>at</strong>e change. I'm the Lead<br />
Principal Investig<strong>at</strong>or for the NERC IMPETUS <strong>and</strong> the EU WINDSURFER<br />
projects. I'm also a Principal Investig<strong>at</strong>or for the H2020 IMPREX <strong>and</strong><br />
H2020 APPLICATE projects. I currently lead a team of researchers<br />
investig<strong>at</strong>ing the impact of clim<strong>at</strong>e change <strong>and</strong> Arctic sea ice loss on<br />
extr<strong>at</strong>ropical storms <strong>and</strong> European we<strong>at</strong>her.<br />
About the project consortium<br />
I’m interested in finding out more about the other <strong>ERA4CS</strong> projects,<br />
especially those th<strong>at</strong> have links to WINDSURFER through engagment<br />
with the energy, insurance <strong>and</strong> forestry sectors.<br />
WINDSURFER is consortium of eight leading partners in European wind <strong>and</strong> wave risk:<br />
