The Swedish International Choir Competition

Sweden – home of outstanding choirs and unique choral sounds from Scandinavia – will host another international INTERKULTUR choir event in spring 2018, following a successful first edition in 2004. Miranda Caldi är professor i kördirigering vid<br />

institutionen för musik vid Ionian University.<br />

Hon har specialiserat sig på framförandet av<br />

renässansperiodens vokalmusik och ”Opera<br />

for Youth”.<br />

Hennes kandidatexamen är från University<br />

of Cape Town 1972 då hon belönades<br />

med utmärkelsen ”Eric Chisolm Memorial<br />

Prize for General Excellence”. Hon tog sin<br />

magisterexamen vid University of York<br />

1992, följt av en filosofie doktorsexamen i<br />

framförandepraxis 2002.<br />

Sedan 1994 är hon dirigent för universitetskören<br />

och vokalensemblen vid Ionian<br />

University. Under denna tid har hon dirigerat<br />

vid ett flertal större framträdanden i<br />

Grekland och andra länder. Det har bland<br />

annat handlat om större och mindre körverk<br />

från renässansperioden fram till 1900-talet,<br />

och många världspremiärer av verk skrivna<br />

av grekiska kompositörer.<br />

Leontaritis mässor har publicerats av York<br />

University Early Music Press och hennes cd<br />

Missa super Aller mi fau(l)t (sur) la verdure<br />

and four motets röstades fram som en av de<br />

20 bästa cd-skivorna av tidskriften Jazz and<br />

Jazz 2003.<br />

Mellan 2011 och 2013 var hon chef för<br />

institutionen för musik vid Ionian University<br />

och innehade rollen som universitetets<br />

vicerektor för akademiska studier och<br />

personal. 2012 valdes hon in som medlem i<br />

universitetsrådet.<br />

Miranda Caldi is Professor of Choral Conducting<br />

at the Music Department of the Ionian<br />

University. She specializes in the performance<br />

of vocal music of the Renaissance period and<br />

the performance of “Opera for Youth”.<br />

She gained her Bachelor of Music Degree<br />

from the University of Cape Town in 1972<br />

with the award of the “Eric Chisolm Memorial<br />

Prize for General Excellence. She gained<br />

her Master of Arts degree at the University of<br />

York in 1992 followed by a Doctor of Philosophy<br />

in Performance Practice in 2002.<br />

Since 1994 she has been Director of the University<br />

Choir and Vocal Ensemble at the Ionian<br />

University. During this time she has conducted<br />

a number of significant performances<br />

in Greece and abroad. These have included<br />

large and smaller choral works from the Renaissance<br />

period to the twenty first century<br />

and many world premiers of the works of<br />

Greek composers.<br />

Her editions of the masses of Franciscus Leondaritis<br />

have been published by York University<br />

Early Music Press and her CD Missa super<br />

Aller mi fau(l)t (sur) la verdure and four motets<br />

was voted one of the top 20 CDs by the<br />

magazine Jazz and Jazz in 2003.<br />

She was Head of the Department of Music<br />

of the Ionian University and served as Vice-<br />

Rector of Academic Studies and Personnel<br />

between 2011-2013 at the same University.<br />

In 2012 she was elected member of the University<br />

Council.
