The Swedish International Choir Competition

Dunkers Kulturhus / The Dunker Culture House<br />

Dunkers kulturhus är ett museum och konstcenter<br />

som designats av Kim Utzon. Museet visar <strong>Helsingborg</strong>s<br />

historia och har ett tema som följer havets historia<br />

från istiden till idag. Kulturhuset finansierades<br />

med pengar från en donationsfond som inrättades<br />

av Henry Dunker, en lokal affärsman som gjorde sig<br />

en förmögenhet på gummiprodukter.<br />

Året innan Dunker avled 1962 var han styrelseordförande<br />

för sitt företag Trelleborgs Gummifabriks AB.<br />

Verksamheten sysselsatte 5 000 personer och upptog<br />

en golvyta på 150 000 kvadratmeter.<br />

The Dunker Culture House (Dunkers kulturhus) is a<br />

museum and art centre designed by Kim Utzon. It is the museum for <strong>Helsingborg</strong> and it is themed to<br />

trace the history of the sea from the ice age to the modern day. The museum was paid for by charities<br />

founded by Henry Dunker who was a local businessman who made a fortune from rubber products.<br />

A year before Dunker died in 1962 he was chair of the board of his company Trelliborgs Gummifabriks<br />

AB. The business employed 5,000 people and it had a floor area of 180,000 square yards.<br />

<strong>Helsingborg</strong>s Konserthus / The Concert Hall<br />

Konserthuset designades av arkitekten Sven Markelius. Byggnaden är ett av de finaste arkitekturexemplen<br />

på svensk funktionalism och är K-märkt. Konserthuset öppnade 1932 och hallen har prisats<br />

för sin fina akustik. Byggnaden kan hyras för olika arrangemang och konferenser. Konserthuset<br />

är också hem för <strong>Helsingborg</strong>s symfoniorkester (HSO).<br />

The Concert Hall was designed by the architect Sven Markelius. The building is one of the finest examples<br />

of Swedish functionalism in architecture and has been declared a historic building. It was<br />

opened in 1932, and the hall has been praised for its fine acoustics. The Concert Hall is available to<br />

hire for arrangements and conferences. It is also home to the <strong>Helsingborg</strong> Symphony Orchestra (HSO).<br />
