Highclere Castle - Down<strong>to</strong>n Abbey<br />

Set in over 1000 acres of stunning 18th century parkland designed by Capability<br />
Brown and home of the Earl of Carnarvon, Highclere has been described as the<br />
finest Vic<strong>to</strong>rian House in existence and now, of course, is known all around the world,<br />
as the home of Down<strong>to</strong>n Abbey. Created by Sir Charles Barry who also designed the<br />
Houses of Parliament, the castle has a magnificent library and drawing room with the<br />
highlight being The Saloon with its 50ft vaulted ceilings. Outside, you can explore<br />
the beautiful gardens and parkland. Tearoom on site & café for lunch - alternatively<br />

With nearly 1,000 years of his<strong>to</strong>ry this impressive castle is situated in 40 aces of<br />
magnificent grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex. One of England’s<br />
largest complete and inhabited castles, the Castle now serves as the ancestral seat<br />
and family home of the 18th Duke of Norfolk. One of the Castle’s oldest features, the<br />
30-foot tall Norman Motte and Keep provides breathtaking views across the nearby<br />
River Arun, the South Downs and a spectacular panoramic vista of West Sussex.<br />
Keen art fans can enjoy a rare collection of paintings by renowned artists including<br />
Van Dyck, Gainsborough and Canalet<strong>to</strong>. Outside there are lovely gardens <strong>to</strong> explore<br />
including The Collec<strong>to</strong>r Earl’s Garden, the Organic Kitchen Garden, sweetly-scented<br />

Uppark House - National Trust & Midhurst<br />

In the morning we head <strong>to</strong> the delightful market <strong>to</strong>wn of Midhurst for time <strong>to</strong> relax<br />
and have lunch before heading <strong>to</strong> Uppark House. Uppark is an impressive late 17th<br />
Century National Trust house offering magnificent panoramic views from its setting,<br />
high on the South Downs of West Sussex. The house contains 18th Century<br />
collections of French furniture, paintings, ceramics and textiles. Perhaps the most<br />
impressive piece is the famous dolls' house which gives a detailed look of life at that<br />
time. The garden is picturesque, primarily foliage, with flowering shrubs, bulbs,<br />
perennials and herbaceous plants. When you need a rest, head for the Orangery<br />
Café for tea and a bite <strong>to</strong> eat. Price includes entrance.<br />

Isle of Wight Tour with local guide<br />

ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR DAYS. After joining the ferry from Lyming<strong>to</strong>n we<br />
will be joined by one of our local guides for a <strong>to</strong>ur of the Island – we try <strong>to</strong> see as<br />
much as possible during the day. The island boasts 60 miles of spectacular coastline<br />
and beautiful countryside. We take in many of the best sights and usually include<br />
Newport, Sandown, Godshill, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater and Alum Bay. There will<br />
be a main s<strong>to</strong>p for lunch. A great day out.<br />

Friday 20th<br />
Horse Drawn Canal Boat & Marlborough<br />

Extended and improved. Step back in time with us, as we head first <strong>to</strong> one of our<br />
favourite s<strong>to</strong>pping places, Marlborough. This archetypal English Market <strong>to</strong>wn has<br />
that ‘film location’ quality and is a great spot <strong>to</strong> stroll around and enjoy a nice lunch.<br />
In the afternoon we head <strong>to</strong> nearby Kintbury and board the ‘Kennet Valley’ horse<br />
drawn barge for a 2½ hour cruise along the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal. This<br />
wide beam passenger boat was purpose built for carrying passengers and is<br />
powered solely by the <strong>to</strong>wing action of the horse making for a tranquil journey.<br />
Facilities onboard include a well s<strong>to</strong>cked bar serving tea, coffee, soft drinks and<br />
beverages. Whilst on board we have included a cup of tea & slice of cake for you!<br />

Dorchester Market & Weymouth<br />

Lovely day out as we visit our his<strong>to</strong>ric county <strong>to</strong>wn in the heart of ‘Hardy’s country<br />
and boasting elegant 18th century houses, interesting museums, good shopping<br />
and a great Market on Wednesdays. Afterwards we travel <strong>to</strong> Weymouth with time in<br />
this rejuvenated traditional seaside resort. The wide award winning three mile beach<br />
has beautiful sand and a level promenade with traditional facilities <strong>to</strong> enjoy. In the<br />
<strong>to</strong>wn there is a great selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Head <strong>to</strong> the<br />
harbour lined by Georgian houses, grab some chips and watch the fishing boats.<br />

Beauty, on the border of Dorset and Devon. Plenty <strong>to</strong> explore among the narrow<br />
streets with a lovely selection of shops and tempting tearooms leading <strong>to</strong> the 13thcentury<br />
Cobb harbour as featured in the film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’.<br />

Queen Vic<strong>to</strong>ria’s seaside holiday home is a very popular destination with our<br />
cus<strong>to</strong>mers. A fascinating rare glimpse in <strong>to</strong> Royal life in the 19th Century, the house<br />
has an extravagant interior and there are extensive gardens offering views across the<br />
Solent. Take an intimate glimpse in<strong>to</strong> Queen Vic<strong>to</strong>ria’s family life as you <strong>to</strong>ur the<br />
nursery and private rooms of Vic<strong>to</strong>ria and Albert. Marvel at the magnificence of the<br />

has a superb collection of tapestries, paintings, porcelain and furniture.<br />

Oxford, the ‘city of dreaming spires’ is steeped in a rich and fascinating his<strong>to</strong>ry.<br />
Famous for its prestigious Oxford University, the city is very pedestrian friendly; a<br />
bustling cosmopolitan place with a lovely riverside setting and a lively mix of<br />
restaurants, bars and superb shopping. The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library and<br />
Bridge of Sighs make up just a few of the famous picturesque buildings of Oxford.<br />
Its charming scenery has been the inspiration for many, including Lewis Carroll and<br />
J.R.R Tolkien. There are also many recognisable scenes from popular films such as<br />
Harry Potter and TV series like Inspec<strong>to</strong>r Morse. Come along for a great day out.<br />

Kings<strong>to</strong>n for its attractive riverside location, proximity <strong>to</strong> beautiful Royal parks and its<br />
excellent shopping. Kings<strong>to</strong>n <strong>to</strong>wn centre retains much of its his<strong>to</strong>ric past including<br />
beautiful Tudor buildings, the Ancient Market and All Saints Church. Head down <strong>to</strong><br />
the waterfront <strong>to</strong> enjoy lunch overlooking the Thames. One of London’s most<br />
