WEST SOUND NEIGHBORHOODS<br />
Silverdale shopping takes another step forward<br />
Silverdale’s long had a reputation as the county’s<br />
retail hub, rivaled only on the peninsula by the shopping<br />
centers of Gig Harbor.<br />
That reputation for commercial buzz was boosted<br />
considerably in recent years with the addition of The<br />
Trails at Silverdale, a walkable mall complex with<br />
fast casual restaurants, burgers and cafes, clothing,<br />
home decor, liquor and more on its 30 acres.<br />
The Trails is just north of the Kitsap Mall, across<br />
Waaga Way, in land opened up in the past decade by<br />
the construction of Greaves Way connection and a<br />
reconfigured highway.<br />
The growth as a shopping destination doesn’t<br />
mean the mall or surrounding clusters along Silverdale<br />
Way have given up.<br />
Kitsap Mall’s recent reinvention follows a national<br />
trend, with a smaller emphasis on big box retailers<br />
and more focus on dining or experiences, seen with<br />
the additions of stops like Buffalo Wild Wings, Monteczuma’s<br />
Mexican Restaurant and World of Beer.<br />
