Belfair’s most recognized asset is likely the end of<br />
Hood Canal’s hook, a natural landscape that comes<br />
alive when the weather warms and draws visitors and<br />
seasonal residents.<br />
The shallow waters in that stretch of saltwater<br />
warm quickly for swimmers and boaters, and local<br />
docks and boat launches like Twanoh State Park, Alderbrook<br />
Resort or North Shore Road draw a line of<br />
fishermen when the shrimp, crab or salmon are in season.<br />
If looking for wildlife on land is more your style, the<br />
Pacific Northwest Salmon Center and Mary Theler<br />
Community Center in Belfair offer a network of trails<br />
and boardwalk to stroll, watching for wildlife or birds.<br />
Belfair’s main drag, Highway 3, has experienced<br />
rapid growth of a business community, and its school<br />
system has completed upgrades to accommodate the<br />
growing population.<br />
A major sewer system project has recently opened<br />
up areas for development, and a pending state highway<br />
project promises to ease traffic congestion as the<br />
unincorporated town continues to attract those looking<br />
for a slower pace.<br />
