Coral Springs Nurse receives DAISY award
Matthew Enlow, RN, was recognized as Broward Health Coral Springs’ December Diseases
Attacking the Immune System Award recipient for going above and beyond his responsibilities
while caring for a 93-year-old patient. Enlow demonstrated heartfelt empathy as he afforded the
elderly woman the additional time and consideration she required, all the while providing qualitycare
to his other patients.
The DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died from
complications of an autoimmune disease at age 33. Because Barnes received exceptional care
while battling his disease, his family established the award as a way to recognize the profound
impact nurses have on the lives of patients and their families. More than 2,700 healthcare facilities
in all 50 states and 70 other countries honor nurses with the DAISY award.
Coral Springs named Tree City
For the 33rd year, the City of Coral Springs was named a 2017
Tree City USA city by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its
commitment to effective urban forest management. The Arbor Day
Foundation sponsors the Tree City USA program in partnership
with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State
Foresters. Coral Springs achieved Tree City USA recognition
by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or
department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry
budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and
proclamation.
