AMERICAN AIRLINES ORDERS 15 E175S
São José dos Campos, Brazil – Embraer and American Airlines have
signed a firm order for fifteen E175 jets with a 76-seat configuration. The
contract has a value of US$705-million, based on current list prices, and
will be included in Embraer’s 2018 second-quarter backlog. Deliveries will
take place in 2019 between March and November.
Combined with the airline’s three previous orders for the E175,
this new contract results in a total of 89 E175s for American Airlines.
The most recent order took place in October 2017 for ten aircraft.
Since entering revenue service, the E-Jets family has received
more than 1 800 orders and over 1400 aircraft have been delivered.
Currently, E-Jets are flying in the fleets of 70 customers
in 50 countries. The versatile 70 to 150-seat family is flying with
low-cost airlines as well as with regional and mainline carriers.
BOEING, RYNAIR ANNOUNCE ORDER FOR 25
737 MAX 8S
Dublin -- Boeing and Ryanair have announced the finaliation of an order
for 25 additional high-capacity 737 MAX 8 aircraft at a list price of $3-billion.
The order brings the airline’s firm order to 135 737 MAX 8s.
Ryanair launched the high-capacity 737 MAX 8 in late 2014 with an
order for 100 airplanes, followed by an additional order for 10 airplanes
at the 2017 Paris Air Show. The airplane will provide Ryanair
with 197 seats, increasing revenue potential and delivering up to 14
percent lower fuel consumption than today's Next-Generation 737s.
The Dublin-based carrier is the largest 737-800 customer
in the world and the largest Boeing operator in Europe. Last
month, Ryanair took delivery of its 500th Next-Generation 737-
800 and has now ordered more than 650 Boeing airplanes.
The 737 MAX incorporates the latest CFM International LEAP-1B
engines, Advanced Technology winglets, Boeing Sky Interior, large
flight deck displays and other features to deliver the highest efficiency,
reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.
ETHIOPIAN SIGNS FOR 10 FIRM Q400 AIRCRAFT
Toronto, Ontario -- Bombardier Commercial Aircraft has concluded a
firm order for 10 new Q400 aircraft with Ethiopian Airlines. The order also
includes purchase rights for five additional Q400 aircraft.
Based on the list price of the Q400 aircraft, the firm order
is valued at approximately U.S.$332-million.
Designed as a modern, 21st Century turboprop, the Q400 aircraft is
the most recent development in the Q Series family of aircraft. It provides
unmatched performance, operational flexibility and passenger comfort.

NEW WINDHOEK – MUNICH SERVICE LAUNCHED
Munich – Eurowings, Europe’s claimed to be fastest growing airline,
expanded its portfolio from Namibia. The airline is supplementing its longhaul
operations by Munich in the southern part of Germany. Return flights
to the Bavarian capital in Southern Germany can now be booked, starting
from US$ 219,99 each way.
Eurowings has already been operating successfully in the longhaul
segment for over two years. Only recently, the first Eurowings
long-haul flights from its newest long-haul Base in Munich took off
connecting Munich with Las Vegas and Mauritius. With the Munich
– Windhoek route, Eurowings is now offering an attractive
connection between the southern part of Germany and Namibia.
The first flight, operated with an Airbus 330 long-haul
jet, arrived in Windhoek in the middle of last month.
Eurowings offers a large number of connecting flights via Munich
to Europe and worldwide. Thanks to the extensive codeshare
agreement with Lufthansa, Eurowings customers in Munich can
also transfer quickly and comfortably to destinations in the parent
company’s network. Both airlines fly from Terminal 2.

AAR SIGNS EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT WITH AMETEK
Wood Dale, Illinois -- AAR’s OEM Aftermarket Solutions group has signed
an exclusive agreement with Power and Data Systems (PDS) of AMETEK
Aerospace & Defence to be its exclusive global aftermarket distributor
supporting commercial, regional transport and helicopter markets.
The AMETEK products covered by the global agreement are specifically
for foreign and domestic aircraft and include power distribution
units, starter generators, generator control units, primary and secondary
power distribution, solid-state power controllers and relays, remote
control circuit breakers, arc fault protection, brushless motors, pump
motors, actuators, cockpit instruments, data acquisition units, engine
interface units, bus protocol converters, and engine monitoring systems.
AMETEK Aerospaceamd & Defence, a leader in engine and aircraft
monitoring systems; data acquisition units; fuel Power and Data
Systems, is a unit of and fluid measurement systems; heat transfer
and cooling systems; and maintenance and repair services.
PILATUS LOGS SUCCESSFUL YEAR
Stans, Switzerland -- Pilatus Aircraft reported revenues last year of
$982,4 million, up from $818-million in 2016, but down from slightly
more than $1- billion in the three prior years, according to the company’s
recently published annual report. Earnings at the company were $134,-
million, up more than $45-million from 2016.
The Swiss aircraft manufacturer delivered 85 PC-12NG turboprop
singles in 2017, six fewer than in the previous year. A four-unit
decrease in shipments to U.S. customers, to 46, was exactly offset
by an increase in PC-12NGs handed over to clients in Europe,
to 24. While the company received certification of its new PC-24
twinjet at the end of last year, deliveries did not begin until four
months ago; to date, two PC-24s are in service with customers,
and the first one has already logged more than 250 hours.
Backlog at Pilatus surged to $2,16-billion, which the company
pointed out is equivalent to more than two years of its sales revenue.
This is up from about $1,74-billion at the end of 2016.
