SAHcOl tAKeS Over AllieD Air,

the Skyway Aviation Handling company
limited (SAHcOl) has added Allied
Air and united Parcel Service (uPS)
to its list of clientele.
The relocation of Allied
Air operations to SAHCOL
makes it the official ground
handling partner to the ramp
and cargo operations of the
airline across Nigeria. Allied Air
commenced operation in 1998
as a Nigerian flag cargo carrier
and is designated on numerous
routes across Africa under the
Bilateral Services Agreement.
It is the first IOSA certified
cargo airline in Nigeria.
UPS has moved its cargo
warehousing services to
SAHCOL, consequently making
SAHCOL the hub of UPS consignment
warehousing. UPS was founded in 1907
and is a package delivery company
as well as provider of supply chain
management solution in more than 175
countries and territories worldwide.

(lAAc), called Saleh Dunoma Press
centre, located at Murtala Muhammed
international Airport road, in
lagos, has been commissioned.

of LAAC, Olusegun Koiki, said the
centre would be of great assistance
to all correspondents in the course
of carrying out their duties.
The new Secretariat was commissioned
by Engr. Saleh Dunoma, Regional President,
ACI-Africa and Chief Executive Officer,
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

Air PeAce has taken delivery of its
newly acquired Boeing B777-200,
becoming the first and only nigerian
airline to procure and register the
aircraft type in the country.
The 274-seat-capacity
aircraft, received at Murtala
Muhammed International
Airport, Lagos, is the first
of two Boeing 777 airliners
Air Peace recently acquired
in preparation for its
Dubai, Sharjah, London,
Guangzhou-China, Houston,
Mumbai and Johannesburg
services, even as the airline
finalises talks to add two more
B777 aircraft to its fleet.
The B777 delivery which
brings the airline’s fleet size
to 24 after three years of
operations, came weeks after

it took delivery of two Embraer 145 aircraft
and set up a subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper,
to organise its short-haul operations in
line with its no-city-left-behind project.
Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema,
said the airline spent about $2,5-million
annually on maintenance of each aircraft
just to sustain safety standards.

tHe FeDerAl Airports Authority of nigeria
(FAAn) has signed a Memorandum of
understanding (MOu) with various state
governments in nigeria in pursuit of
upgrade of airports across the country.
FAAN’s Chief Executive Officer,
Engr. Saleh Dunoma, said the states
included Gombe, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kebbi,
Akwa-Ibom and Delta. He said the
MOU provided for provision of security
service, fire cover and marshalling
services by FAAN to those airports.
Dunoma said two contracts had been
awarded for the installation of modern
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras
at Lagos and Abuja airports and that those
facilities, when installed, would restrict
access to sensitive parts of the airports.
On the delay in completion of airports
terminal building projects, Dunoma said:
“We had to change the completion dates
of terminal buildings in five airports.”
He explained that this change was
caused by contractors’ complaining about
fluctuations in dollar exchange rates.
“By middle of 2018, Lagos and
Abuja airport terminal buildings
will be ready,” he assured.
Faan reviews service

the Federal Airports Authority of
nigeria (FAAn) launched a reviewed
service charter, featuring a service level
agreement, which seeks to ensure that
service delivery standards are upheld and
sustained by providing opportunity for all
airport stakeholders to report observed
service failures within its value chain.
In his keynote address at the event,
FAAN’s Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Saleh
Dunoma, represented by Engr. Salisu Daura
charged all users of the document to “make
a conscious effort to study, imbibe and
implement the areas pertaining to their
respective responsibilities or activities.”
He solicited stakeholders’ support in
“building strong partnerships that will
ensure quality service delivery to our
numerous customers, comparable to what
obtains in other airports across the globe.”
Describing the reviewed service charter
as a significant step towards service
improvement in FAAN, the National
Co-ordinator and CEO of SERVICOM in
the presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajiemeli,
announced that FAAN’s SERVICOM Unit
had been rated the best for year 2017 out
of the over 200 units in 22 government
agencies in Nigeria while FAAN’s Nodal
Officer, Mrs Ebele Okoye, has been rated
the best in terms of performance.
Meanwhile, FAAN has embarked on
palliative repair work on the runway of
Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
FAAN’s General Manager Corporate
Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said
the project seeks to enhance safety of
airline operations at the airport. Q
