Come Home
Just So.
Elizabeth M. Jarrell
Kensington, MD
William has exceptional
engineering skills.
It may well be that he is
proficient in plumbing
as well.
A
lot of dogs are intimidated by big strangers with large
tool boxes. Some bark incessantly. Others immediately
run away to hide. Not William. Everyone is his longlost
best buddy. He enthusiastically greets all guests,
even the plumber, who is a very large, strong guy with a large tool
box and mysterious boxes of plumbing equipment such as toilets.
William especially likes to welcome guests carrying a toy in his
mouth, often to share.
The plumber’s latest visit was to solve the mystery of onequarter
inch of water under my kitchen sink which turned out to
be a failed disposal. Every time the plumber went out to his truck
for another item and then walked back into the house, William
acted like he had not seen him in ages. William is nothing if not
a friendly sort of fellow. I’ve known my plumber for decades and
he is an incredibly nice, gentle guy who loves dogs and is a crack
plumber.
Many dogs, if not already in hiding, run away when a plumber
begins to produce odd-shaped instruments out of his tool box.
