(4) By whatever means get parents
involved.
Home-school partnerships are encouraged
so that parents are informed of their
children’s progress. An additional goal of
such partnerships is to foster collaboration
and cooperation. At the school level,
parents are engaged through parent
meetings and conferences, Family Week,
the Parent Volunteer Programme at the
primary level, Parent-Teachers Association
meetings, and form and year level
meetings. Through the Schools’ Positive
Behaviour Management Programme
(SPBMP) seminars are sometimes conducted
for parents on the use of positive
behaviour interventions at home. These
seminars are geared towards ensuring
that parents are exposed to some of the
(CVQ) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency
Examination (CAPE) levels.
The METI is placing greater emphasis on
developing and show-casing the creative
talents of students. Consequently, new
portfolios for Education Officers in the areas
of Music and Theatre Arts have been
created, thereby providing the opportunities
for students to excel in these two areas.
(6) Use modern technology to transform
Teachers are encouraged to utilize technology
