Preface
The concept of Black Owned
Businesses (BOB) was originated
to empower the focus of Africans
and other folks of generic Diaspora
entity engaged in business
development in our diverse community.
This initiative is a positive
and tremendous mission for black
owned businesses to anchor their
groundation-vibration thereupon.
Particularly, where our businesses
are filled with the flavor of the
performing arts. The black owned
businesses are here to stay, because
these businesses are the divine
backbone of our styled filled
and artistic community.

THE TEMPTATIONS
These Brothers came into our lives musically and it has never been the
same with hits after hits. They were MOTOWN at its very best as they
spared no melody on point vocals, these guys had soul not to mention their
dance moves.
This group was definitely a one of a kind , they went in as some teenage sensation
and came out as musical superstar giants. Thanks to God for such
greatness and thanks to Berry Gordy for giving them the opportunity; as they
were larger than life. We just could not get enough of the music they recorded
including some of those popular hits written by Smokey which still continues
to captivate the world over.

The Most Hon. Louis Farrakhan, they all Hail him
A man of strength,
high standards, integrity
and dignity, Louis
Farrakhan was a true
revolutionary, as well
as an historical figure
in American history to
date. Despite his varying
achievements, the
media-at-large decided
to spread negative
messages about this
man of such greatness
and created what they
wanted the world to
perceive him as.
Now the question is: What
was wrong with him helping
the urban neighborhood?
When in actuality, he was
only doing as much as possible
to direct the forgotten
people into an invincible future;
from teaching the African-American
men to believe
in themselves and
that all things are always
possible only according to
what they believe they
could achieve. Why are they
calling African-Americans
Black, when its true meaning
is dead? All these years
you have to sit and wonder,
when an African
American is attached to
the word Black, it means
nothing. This is why they
disregard The Black
Lives Matter Movement.
According to them, Black
is nothing. Well, the Hon.
Louis Farrakhan is, in
our opinion, a wonderful,
kind, and loving family
man who wanted only to
see the world united as
one & thriving peacefully.
One has to wonder
where the media gets
their stories from.

It was just a few years after
the king was crowned King of the
dancehall we found out that Yellowman
had cancer and was given
a short time to live. He later
proved, that only the living God
has the power over life and death.
Bart Simpson, was a character
created after the King but he was
never compensated.
It’s a shame how people do these
things and get away with it. A
child from a foster home, who nurtured
his musical talent and made
a name for himself, should not be
exploited at all. Yet the King still
pulls a huge crowd wherever
he goes!

Sean Combs aka P. Diddy always
seemed to be getting
himself in trouble whenever
he visits Miami; when he
danced the salsa with J. Lo
and then got set up with the
police. Always getting in trouble
as Puff Daddy, until when
we realized that he changed
his name to P. Diddy and with
the name change, his character
changed as well. He had
remained out of trouble for a
long time, until that incident
where the UCLA Football
Coach disrespected his son,
Justin, Sean then showed
them who Puff Daddy really
was. Now we see him
dressed as a gentleman here
promoting his Sean John
Clothing Line, Ciroc line of
Vodka and his bad boy Record Label. He single handedly is responsible
for the rise of Biggie Smalls for that alone we applaud him, he gave Biggie
Smalls the confidence to rise above himself. His present net worth is
approx. $ 650 million and he is set to be the next African American billionaire.
Now he’s speaking up about unity and love of his race, education,
self discipline and development. P. Diddy you make us proud. -

Prophetess Jennifer Smith, born in Kingston, Jamaica and migrated
to the United States in 1970. At a young age of 12 years old,
she started her work with the Lord winning souls such as her
mom, dad, siblings and neighbors who became a part of the
church that she was saved, the Little Wayside Bethany
Church.. During this time she evangelized to others travelling
throughout the 14 parishes of Jamaica spreading and sharing the
gospel. She obtained her London GCE and JSC along with many
awards in track and field before she migrated to the US. After migrating
to the United States, she became a member of New Temple
Christ Church where she started her first Food Ministry. She
served the Lord alongside her leader Bishop Clara Hubbins for
over 20 years, where she was ordained as a Pastor in charge of
community relations, during this time she obtained her degree in
Mental Health and Psychology. Prophetess Smith relocated to Miami,
Florida where she joined A Place Called Hope Ministry. She
served her community as a care Pastor, establishing an after
school program called the Share to Care of Hope in Miami Gardens,
Miami. As the leader of this program, she served over 3000
families providing food, clothes, toys, etc. She has served in many
leadership roles and is currently a board member of several
churches both local and international. She became the founder of
her ministry The Throne of Grace Healing and Deliverance Center
for over 10 years. This ministry has given birth to the JSM Ministries
and the Mending the Bruised Heart Foundation. Prophetess
Smith is gifted and anointed with prophecy and healing. Her main
goal is to continue working for the Lord through giving and providing
service for children, bruised women and the less fortunate
within her community, the entire United States and overseas......

was born in Miami,

the love for modeling

My name is Veronne McMain and I have been at Parkway Middle school of
the Arts in Lauderhill for about 15 years and the one thing that I can say
about my school is that we all work as a team with one goal in mind and
that is to improve the lives of our students.
For the past 7 years, I have been hosting several events at Parkway. One of
them is celebrating our teachers for the entire teacher’s week that occurs
sometime in May. The purpose of this event is not only to show gratitude to
our teachers but also to break down the divide that sometimes occurs between
teachers, administrators and itinerant staff.
Another annual event that I host is the Thanksgiving Celebration. I decided
that I would build a network of community partners that would provide
Thanksgiving baskets to my families. It certainly would have been easier to
participate in the school wide event but I decided against it because my
families are poor and most are unable to donate anything during the holidays.
Each year the event gets better.
This year Thanksgiving event, we had close to 500 parents sign in and we
provided all with a hot meal and 150 families with turkeys and a basket of
groceries. The goal of this event is to not only feed families but also to
build trust between the parents and the school and to increase parent engagement.
This year I launched a mentorship program again utilizing the community to
help our students. That also has taking off, I currently have 43 mentors
and they come to the school to meet with the students two times per
month. I have a system in place to monitor the student’s progress. I have
pulled data for each student before having a mentor and will keep track
monthly until the end of the school year. At the end, I need to be able to
see if this was a viable intervention.

us and if your grand
mother and mother is

Smokey was clearly the
main ingredient at Motown,
he sings and writes
songs that changed peoples
lives for the greater
good. Mr. Berry Gordy
couldn't have done it
without him. Smokey will
tell you, in his own words,
that the MOTOWN family
was a FAMILY, that works
together as a team. Any
member that came up
with an idea, the family
would consistently tweak
it & work with it until it
was perfect for release.

Mr. Berry Gordy is not only a musical
genius but rather an intelligent
civil rights leader whose name
though it remains in the background,
Mr. Gordy fights just as
hard as any other civil rights leader
musically. Mr. Gordy is smart
enough to make the kind of music
that all people love; of course there
were those who were racist and
would not purchase the songs if it
had the original singers’ picture on
the album because of the color of
their skin. So, Mr. Gordy would put
a white couple on the album in order
to get air play in the white
neighborhoods.

Its no joke when Michael saw his elder
brothers practicing he secretly learnt the
songs and one day he was discovered,
while touring with his big brothers he observed
a lot of things on the road, but little
did we know that one great day Mr.
MJJ would be the King of Pop music as
we know it. Here we see him with the
Supreme Queen Miss Diana Ross wearing
matching outfits. He has left a void in
the world that no one can fill, he will always
be the most talented American that
ever lived and a savvy businessman.
He became the owner of all publishing
rights for artists like Elvis Presley, Beatles,
and himself, Michael was a serious

BERRY GORDY
Its not often in the African American
community you will find a savvy businessman
as Berry Gordy, he knows
what he wants and he delivers.
Mr. Motown himself wants to make
music for all people not for race, so
even in ‘Jim Crow America’, we saw
segregation in the Hall that the Temptations
would perform, where a rope
was used to separate the audience
where you would have the Africans
on the left and Caucasians on the
right. Until Ray Charles put a stop to
that by boycotting his concert and
was banned from entering his own
born state of Georgia where he was
so longing to be and if he entered he
would be arrested. He then recorded the song
‘Georgia on my Mind’ that later became National
state song . There is no doubt that Motown broke
down the barriers between African and Caucasian
American .
As Berry went along he made movies like “Lady
Sings the Blues” starring Diana Ross and Billy
Dee Williams, then sold his company for $60 m. but retained his publishing
rights ….. smart move. “MR. BERRY GORDY”
