How long have you been a DC? I’ve been a Debt Counsellor for 4 years. Since being registered in 2015. What did you do before becoming a DC? I was working for the Department of Education for 17 years as an administrator. I later worked for other Debt Counsellors while I was studying for the National Credit Act (the Debt Counsellor) course. I became full- time Debt Counsellor in 2015. Why did you become a DC? As I was working for the Department Education I realised that we all lack the knowledge and information about financial matters. I also realised how we need to be updated about all changes that are happening around us in terms of being over indebted. I was also in a negative financial situation after my divorce and it had personal impact on me, it was after that when I realised that I need to try to help those who end up in the same situation I used to be in.
