Past Players & Officials Report
2011 has been another successful year
for the WAFCPPO group. This being
a social group for our Club, we have
enjoyed a year of several functions and
get-togethers.
The Committee, led by President Jim
Wright, put their heads together to focus
on the future and the development of
the WAFCPPO group, moving to the
stadium room on the North West corner
of the ground for home match days.
Again we had numerous folk through
our WAFCPPO room for half time social
fellowship.
On March 30th 2011, WAFCPPO midweek
raffles were launched at 6pm on
Wednesday’s. We thank Rick Pink for
his hard work and support in running our
raffles. We also extend a big thank you to
Vice President Steve Rechner together
with Rick Pink in hosting interviews with
Past Players and Officials each week.
Also we especially thank Pat Sexton
and Lorna Hitchcock for their ongoing
support.
WAFCPPO hosted three of our home
match days in the “Stadium Room” to
mark the beginning of the relocation of
our WAFCPPO group to the deck and
mound area of the field.
The Ken Eglinton Medal was presented
to James Ezard. We thank Adelaide
Galvanising Industries for their sponsorship
of the Medal.
Bernie Conlen kept our promotional
DVD’s on screen in the WAFC Club
rooms; a great medium to advertise and
promote our functions and show player
profiles; together with footage of football
game highlights.
In 2011 WAFCPPO group sponsored
league player, Jack Carter. At the Club
Presentation night, Michael Minuzzo was
awarded the Knott/Mitchell Memorial
Scholarship sponsored by the WAFCPPO
group.
WAFCPPO group extends our most
sincere condolences to all families of
WAFCPPO members that have died in
2011. Our thoughts and condolences go
out to the family of David Lee, one of our
valued Committee Members.
On September 16th 2011 the WAFCPPO
hosted their annual dinner. This night
celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the
1961 Premiership and the players of
the late 1980’s and early 1990’s era.
WAFC folk travelled from all across
Australia to join together for a fun filled
evening. The night was started with
Trevor Reu stating his pride in being a
WAFC player. He is the last remaining
Minister with any SANFL club and we
are honoured to have him join us each
year. The guest speakers for the night
were Mark Mickan, Robbie McKinnon
and Shaun Rehn. Craig Bennetts and
Paul Patterson interviewed Grantley
Fielke, Leon Grosser and John Ryan
with the roving microphones. The night
was also filled with entertainment led by
comedian Dave Flanagan. We especially
thank Greg Summerton for co-ordinating
the night and for being our host and MC.
Thanks also to Bernie Conlen and Craig
Bennetts for organising the table settings
and managing the door on the night;
and Bernie for his amazing compilation
of DVD presentations. We thank Morrie
Cappo for his donation of seafood and
Frank Martin for his donation of oysters;
both of which enhanced our menu.

We salute our Committee – Jim Wright

Paul Patterson, for a successful year.
We pay tribute to Jim Wright who has
retired from WAFCPPO Committee and
we thank Jim for his long service as a
foundation member of our group. We also
acknowledge the support and service
that his wife Helen Wright has given to
our group. Also, at the end of 2011, I also
formally resigned from the WAFCPPO
Committee.
2012 WAFCPPO Membership can be

so when renewing your membership for
