Dunfries, Scotland on August 18, 1912. She came to Canada in 1923 with
her family and they settled in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She received her
education and teacher training and in 1934 she came to teach at Haliburton
1992. Ada passed away on June 9, 1971.
On the June 29th weekend, Margaret, Joe and Mary, and their children
Margaret lives in Regina Saskatchewan. Her husband, Perry Ritz, passed
away in 2001. Margaret has two boys, both living in Regina – in fact only
direct descendents of Bill and
Ada Birtles.
daughter, and her husband Jess and son Bentley are from Carlyle also. Shelby, Darin’s daughter, lives in
Kipling, Saskatchewan. Troy and his wife Nicky, live outside of Whitecourt. They have three children, Rebecca,
Tyler, and Jessica. Leah and her husband Kelly live in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. They have
The weekend started Friday afternoon when families gathered together. Mary and Doug drove from Vancouver
Island while Ronna flew from Ontario and Julien flew from Victoria. Trevor and Allandra, Megan
Golf at LMRP
The Annual Harry Hine Memorial Golf Tournament
was held at the Last Mountain Regional Park (LMRP)
on Wednesay, July 11th with 39 golfers registered for the
event.
Although the people who organize the weather were a bit
off their game that day, everyone had a great time (even if
some chose shelter over finishing the 18 hole course!!)
Attending from the Nokomis Golf Club were Sandy
Lewis, Colleen McNichol, Linda and Elwood Smith, Barry
Mortenson, Maureen Tait, Edna Serfling, and yours truly.
Edna was the big winner from our group, but everyone
attending received a prize based on their ranking on the
scoreboard.
Margo (Hine) Bradley from Invermere, BC was home for
the occasion. It is wonderful that Harry’s family and all
his friends are carrying on the tradition that Harry started
so many years ago. He would be so proud!
I and many others would like to give LMRP manager Del
Skoropata and all his staff and volunteers a big bouquet of
thanks for the super-good job they did remodelling the the
Picnic Hall. It is absolutely beautiful!
In the heat of the moment, the wife
actually admitted that women change their
minds ...a lot. But she wouldn’t repeat it or
let me write it down...
