NUMBER ONE FOR BIRD WATCHERS<br />
The 19th of May was International Bird Day and<br />
Peru was in first place for bird sightings during a<br />
single day, with a total of 1,182 species throughout<br />
the country, followed by Brazil in second<br />
place with 1,102 species sighted. Places with<br />
the highest density included Cusco and Madre<br />
de Dios with 441 species reported, followed by<br />
Loreto, Amazonas, Piura and San Martin. The<br />
Franklin’s Gull was the most sighted species and<br />
five endemic species were reported in Junin Nacional<br />
Reserve.<br />
ATSA PERU<br />
ATSA PERU CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY<br />
ATSA Peru celebrated its 35th anniversary on Friday the 27th<br />
of March. The company inaugurated its modern hangar on<br />
the southern apron of Jorge Chavez International Airport in the<br />
presence of all of its employees. Carlos Cueva, CEO of ATSA<br />
Peru, said that the hangar will enable the company to continue<br />
carrying out maintenance of aircraft, engines and propellers,<br />
as well as offering specialist components and services such as<br />
calibration, installation, dismantling and others, always with a<br />
view to continual improvement. This year ATSA renewed its<br />
commitment to providing integrated aeronautical services to<br />
the highest standards of safety and quality, in order to meet its<br />
clients’ needs and exceed their expectations.<br />
PERUMODA<br />
The seventh PeruModa was held from the 27th<br />
to the 29th of May, bringing together the best of<br />
Peru’s jewellery, footwear and clothing production.<br />
This year the aim was to make Peruvian brands international,<br />
and the brand designer with the best<br />
catwalk display was awarded a sales stand in wellknown<br />
US store chain Macy’s.<br />
PERUVIAN PRE-HISPANIC ART IN 3D<br />
The Museum of America in Madrid exhibited 3D reproductions<br />
of four outstanding items in its collection, including an Inca<br />
vessel and a funerary bundle from the Paracas Culture. The<br />
exhibitions were made using photogrammetry, by which<br />
each object was photographed from different points in the<br />
greatest detail and with the highest accuracy possible.<br />

DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN LIMA AND TORONTO<br />
Air Canada rouge is now operating direct flights<br />
between Lima and Toronto, Canada. Lima is the<br />
first Latin American capital to be added to this lowcost<br />
airline’s list of destinations.<br />
