Summer 18-2

Dear Parents,
As we are about to break up for the summer we do say goodbye to some colleagues who are
moving on to pastures new and I wish them all the best for the future. A special mention must go
to Mr Burke and Joe Hopkins. They have worked extremely hard to support the needs of our
students and we wish them every success as they start their new careers as the Head of Fernwood
school and the Lead Lay Chaplain at the St Ralph Sherwin CMAT. I also look forward to
welcoming some new colleagues in September and I hope that they will have a very successful
career here at CtK.
May I take this opportunity to thank you once more for your support and kind messages during
the last few weeks. During the break, building work will commence including newly refurbished
student toilets in the upstairs of the Main Building and of course the new Music suite.
May I remind you that the new term will begin on Wednesday 5 th September for Year 7 and the
Sixth Form, all other students will start on Thursday 6 th.

LITERACY REWARD TRIP
Students who have really made an extra effort with their
reading this year were taken on a reward trip to Grimm & Co.
Through a hidden door in a magical bookcase, 30 CtK students
travelled to an apothecary’s writing workshop where they spent
the morning crafting comedic pieces of writing on a course
developed by The League of Gentlemen’s Jeremy Dyson. The
session concluded with a slide down a giant’s beanstalk into the
Grimm and Co. gift shop. A great time was had by all!
