PEOPLE WANTING to have a swim at the
new QE II have run into a problem – it’s too
busy at certain times.
On page 3 today we reveal the concerns
growing that demand is too much for the
size of the pool.
There’s also been a one in, one out policy in recent weeks as
queues line up to get into the brand new facility.
Various groups want to book the pool and that, too, is causing
congestion with water polo needing it for training. And fair
enough too.
There will be no simple answer to this one. The new QE II was
never going to be as big as the previous complex – a fact of life
given council facilities were underinsured.
But the lesson is – plan for a growing population.
