Student loan data<br />

The Department <strong>of</strong> Education is required to make available to schools descriptions <strong>of</strong> the Federal<br />

Student Aid programs to assist students in gaining information through school sources, and to<br />

assist schools in carrying out the Federal Student Aid program requirements. The Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Education provides comprehensive information to students and their families through the Student<br />

Aid on the Web sites: http://studentaid.ed.gov and http://www.direct.ed.gov/<br />

National Student Loan Data Base System (NSLDS)<br />

When a student, or a parent <strong>of</strong> a student, applies for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan. The loan<br />

records are created and the loans will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System<br />

(NSLDS) and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and schools determined to be<br />

authorized users <strong>of</strong> the data system. Borrowers have access to view their Title IV, HEA loan<br />

records at www.nslds.ed.gov.<br />
