Along with Rolleston, Lincoln is
considered to be one of the fastest
growing towns in Selwyn.
Over the last 20 years, Lincoln has
tripled its population and the trend to
expand looks set to continue according
to the 2017 Lincoln University Planning
Review.
While the village centre of Lincoln
still holds its country charm, new
commercial developments and services
are in place to support the growing
demands of the ever-increasing
population.
New residential developments
continue to grow at a fast rate and
expand into the countryside giving

significant opportunity to be part of a
‘rural’ community.
Green spaces, walkways, playgrounds,

positives these new developments bring
to help promote healthy lifestyles and

Subdivisions such as Flemington,
Rosemerryn, Barton Fields and Te
Whāriki offer a wide range of section
sizes and homeownership opportunities
to help satisfy the demand.
Progressive Realty director Joe
Mullins says sections in Flemington
continue to be sought after and sales
are strong. Flemington offers sections
ranging from 400m 2 to 750m 2 and still
has 300 sections to come to the market.
Bayleys sales representative for Fulton
Hogan’s Rosemerryn subdivision,
Nathan Collett, says that they too have
seen a significant increase in enquiries
over the past months. Rosemerryn
currently has three stages open for sales
with section sizes ranging from 429m 2
to 2,282m 2 and due to high demand is
set to release its next stage in spring.
Sections through these companies
can be purchased privately or through
a choice of housing companies offering
turnkey or design and build options.
Both agree that the future growth for
Lincoln looks promising. Mr Collett
says their buyers love the new amenities
that Lincoln now has to offer and
believes that as land prices increase in
other areas such as Halswell, Prebbleton
and even Rolleston, Lincoln still
provides excellent value.
With the partnership of Lincoln
University and AgResearch’s $206
million Joint Facility for learning and
research soon to be based in Lincoln
and the New Zealand Army centralising
its operation in Burnham, Mr Mullins
says both will bring more families to
the wider area including Lincoln.
