thought out design.
“The use of floor to ceiling
windows opens the house up
to extensive sea views. It also
allows this relatively small
home to appear more expansive.
“The use of natural timber
finishes to the internal walls
and ceilings offers a warm
ambient feel, as well as texture
to the rooms. Both the contractor
and owner can be very
proud of this project.”
Judges said the winning
renovation of the year has
seamlessly created a new character
home with modern conveniences.
“The house was completely
modernised. It gives
the impression that it is a new
house – it is impossible to see
what was old and what was
new.
“The renovation was beautifully
designed and seamlessly
constructed, creating a better
insulated modern home that
maximises the sun and fantastic
views.
“This a beautiful renovation
that has been finished to
a very high standard, a worthy
Supreme winner.”
The results of the regional
competition were revealed at
a gala dinner on July 13 at the
Claudelands Event Centre. The
winning builds were celebrated
by Waikato Registered Master
Builders Association members
and colleagues from the local
construction industry.
There were 19 Gold Award
winners from the Waikato
region which will now be
judged against Gold Award
winners from around the country
