REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration Dates & Times *Note: all classes will be prorated on cancellation dates and holidays. All program dates will be included on registration receipts. Fall Programs: Sept 17–Nov 18, 2018: Registration dates: Aug 20–Sept 12, 2018 Fall Aquatics: Sept 10–Nov 18, 2018: Registration dates: Aug 20–Sept 5, 2018 Winter 1 Programs & Aquatics: Nov 19, 2018–Feb 10, 2019: Registration dates: Nov 5–14, 2018 Winter 2 Programs & Aquatics: Feb 11–Apr 28, 2019: Registration dates: Jan 28–Feb 6, 2019 Holiday Camp: Jan 2-4, 2019 Registration dates: Nov 1-Dec 27, 2018 March Break Camp: Mar 11-15, 2019. Registration dates: Feb 1-Mar 7. Please request extended hours when registering. Additional fees apply. Day Camp registrations are accepted until 8:00pm the Thursday prior to the week of participation. Registration fees must be paid at the time of registration. Make cheques payable to the Municipality of Port Hope ($25 charge for NSF cheques). IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Municipality of Port Hope Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture reserves the right to withdraw, amend, change, postpone or combine any programs, classes and/or courses that are listed in this Guide. Please provide us with your e-mail address during registration so we may communicate important information directly to you. RECREATION SOFTWARE The Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture has implemented ActiveNet, a specialized database developed to better address customer service and management of information. Register for ANY program or service at the Town Park Recreation Centre and Jack Burger Sports Complex or online at www.porthope.ca/programregistration. CHANGES A $14.50 administration fee will be charged on any changes requested after the registration has been processed or following the close of registration (depending on availability). PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS In order to provide quality programs the Department may not run a program or alter the scheduled time due to insufficient registration. If your class is cancelled or the changed time does not fit your schedule, a full refund or credit will be given with no administration fee. Class levels may be combined in order to run classes that would otherwise be cancelled. Cancellations listed at www.porthope.ca/recreationcancellations. PHOTOS The use of photographically capable cell phones, cameras and video cameras is not permitted in change rooms/washrooms. Taking photos or making videos/audio recordings without permission in ANY context in which the person has a reasonable expectation of privacy is prohibited. POOL CHANGE ROOMS Children with parents of the opposite sex will have access to the family change room at the Jack Burger Sports Complex. MULTI-CHILD DISCOUNT For families with more than one child there is a 5% discount off registration fees for the second child and 10% off each additional child registered at the same time. Discount does not apply to registration fees for any advanced aquatic leadership, private/semiprivate lessons or specialty aquatic classes or specialty camps. FEE ASSISTANCE / SUBSIDY The Municipality of Port Hope believes that everyone should have the chance to participate. Fees for participation should not be a barrier. The Municipality has a fee assistance program. For information regarding the level of assistance available please ask staff or visit www.porthope.ca. REFUNDS / CREDIT ON ACCOUNT A $14.50 administration fee will be charged on all refund requests. The only exception is for refunds that are accompanied with medical proof. Refunds requested after the start of a session are subject to pro-rating based on classes completed at the time of request. A credit on account is also available and is subject to pro-rating.
CULTURE SPOTLIGHT A NATIONAL CELEBRATION OF CANADIAN CULTURE Culture Days was created in response to the growing recognition that a vibrant arts and cultural sector contributes directly to a healthy and stable society. The Municipality is excited to participate this year with some free workshops for the whole family. 1 FALL/WINTER 2018/19 • www.porthope.ca Feel the Beat - This is a fun FREE interactive percussion experience for the family! This one hour workshop is an interactive drum circle utilizing drums and percussion instruments. Fun with Drums will host this workshop and provide all the equipment. Limited space available so please be sure to register to hold your spot. Location: Jack Burger Sports Complex Date Saturday, September 29 Time 1:00pm-2:00pm Date Paint Night (Owl Themed) - Come out and enjoy the evening creating a colourful, creative owl. All materials provided. Limited space available so be sure to register to hold your spot. Location: The Port Hope Community Hub. Friday, September 28 Date Time 6:00pm-8:00pm Experience Flamenco Dance - Join us for this one hour introduction to Flamenco Dance. Flamenco dance is a Spanish art form and has been influenced by many cultures. You will get to experience this beautiful art form as well as enjoy a short performance by Lesley and Michael Daly. Open to all ages and ability levels. Location: Jack Burger Sports Complex Saturday, September 29 Time 2:30pm-3:30pm DID YOU KNOW THE MUNICIPALITY HAS A CULTURAL PLAN? The Municipality of Port Hope, undertook a process to create a Cultural Plan in 2011. The Cultural Plan is a community plan that developed a definition of culture, and identifies a series of strategic priorities. It recognizes our values, customs and beliefs, heritage, built and natural environment, and our intellectual and social achievements. Culture is all those things that make our Municipality unique and vibrant – how people express life and live in our community.
