See FOOTBALL, page 31 Aaron McBride has seen first-hand the healing power of physical therapy – both through his patients’ success and his own personal experience. “I do what I do because I was on the patient side of the table,” Aaron said. “I had a fairly debilitating injury in college.” Aaron was diagnosed with Guillain- Barré syndrome, which attacks the nervous system and can cause ascending paralysis. It impaired his ability to walk. “I had a very dynamic, young physical therapist who I spent almost four months with, three times a week,” Aaron said. “I credit her for getting me back to where I wanted to be, which helped drive me into athletic training and subsequently into physical therapy. That ability to go through a difficult recovery – and achieve a full recovery – shaped my career in Aaron McBride The Individualized Care You Deserve terms of wanting to go out and help other people.” 20 Years of Experience Aaron began his career in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he gained experience working as an athletic trainer for the Pittsburgh Steelers and as a physical therapist at a clinic devoted to shoulders. “When I came to St. Louis, I brought a lot of that knowledge with me. I like the shoulder because it’s a challenge; it makes you think. The shoulder is what we hang our hat on at the end of the day.” Though he considers the shoulder to be his specialty, Aaron treats a wide variety of conditions and age ranges – including athletic, geriatric, post-surgical, motor vehicle accident and workers compensation cases. He has been helping patients achieve full recoveries for 20 years. Personalized Care After working for a number of local corporations, Aaron decided he wanted to provide more. “I wanted to be able to really spend time with patients, understand their plight, and come up with better plans and better treatment options,” he said. In May of 2016, Aaron opened ApexNetwork Physical Therapy Des Peres, an independently owned and operated practice. He and his wife, Karen, Apex Des Peres’ director of marketing and operations, designed a comfortable, home-like atmosphere where patients receive the utmost level of individualized physical therapy. “We’re a small, ‘boutique’ kind of clinic.
