Dryden Robert Lewis Dryden, 84, of Northbrook, died Aug. 6 after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A graduate of Wichita State University, Dryden Dryden was a marketing executive for IBM for 25 years. He then served in several executive positions at the Boeing Corporation. He was President of Boeing Computer Services in the early 1980s, President of Boeing Military and Executive Vice-President of Production for Boeing Commercial, until his retirement in 1998. He proudly served on many corporate and volunteer boards during his lifetime. These included Puget Sound Energy, U.S. Bank, Overlake Hospital, Junior Achievement and the United Way. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956. Dryden was the beloved husband of Carol Sue Ebner Dryden from Monett, Mo., for 62 years. He was a loving father to three daughters and sonin-laws, Kay Laurie (Jeff Zehe), Sherry Blackwell (Ben) and Susan Mathews (Rick). He was a devoted Grandfather to Katie, Brian, David, Chad and Brett. Bob Dryden encouraged, mentored and supported his many business associates, friends and family and garnered the love and respect of all who knew him. Dryden will be greatly missed and always loved. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. Carolyn J. Rand Carolyn Joan “Jo” Rand, 80, of Northbrook, died July 30. She was the devoted wife of Robert; beloved mother of Sharon, Lee (Jim), Susan (Carlos); loving grandmother of Ben, Annie, and Lily; and dear sister of William Baird “Barry” White, She was born to Baird and Shirley White in Chicago. She grew up in Park Ridge and was a proud graduate of Maine High School where she cultivated lifelong friendships and met Robert K. Rand who would eventually become her husband of 52 years. Rand helped to organize many high-school reunions, including the most recent one. She settled in Glenview, living there for nearly 30 years. Rand was involved in Chapter 12 at the Glenview Community Church, sang in the church’s choir, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and dabbled in real estate. A consummate wife, mother, homemaker, and entertainer, she worked to make others happy before herself. We will miss her hearty laughter, welcoming home, festive dinner parties, and endless care for those she loved. She will be fondly remembered for the many slumber parties that she hosted, car trips to Lake Lawn Lodge with the windows down and Neil Diamond blaring on the radio, mornings on the phone laughing with her friends, treasured family dinners and love for the “Cubbies.” A private family memorial service will be held. Susan I. Cybak Susan I. “Sue” Cybak nee Sowula, 71, of Northbrook, died July 27. She was the beloved wife of Steve Cybak; loving mother of Marc “Moe” and the late Eric Cybak; mother-in-law of Heather and grandmother of Ivy; devoted daughter of the late Chester and Martha “Marty” Sowula. She was born Feb. 5, 1922 ,in Latrobe, Penn. Eldest daughter of Rosskam Ida and Hyman Cahen of Greensburg and Latrobe, Penn.; preceded in death by her husband, William B. Rosskam, II and her sister, Janice Horowitz. She is survived by her sons William B., III, (Marilyn) and Steve (Merle) Rosskam, three grandchildren, Andrew, Jules and Lauren and one great grandchild, Greyson. She spent many years as a “snowbird” in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was articulate, well read, fond of playing bridge and creative, having taken on the art of ceramics as a hobby in her later years. She will be remembered as graceful and loving. There is no service planned. The family will gather at a later date. Contributions may be made to Penn State University, Edith and William B.
