MIA NEWS They joined the following Council members, whose term expires in 2019: Mr Franco Azzopardi, Mr Etienne Borg Cardona, Mr Simon Flynn, Ms Maria Micallef, Mr Noel Mizzi, Mr Franz R. Wirth and Mr William Spiteri Bailey. MIA President, William Spiteri Bailey, thanked outgoing Council members, Anthony Doublet and Stephen Paris for their dedication and contribution towards the Institute and the local profession. Both had served on Council for a long period of time. Mr Shawn Falzon and Ms Annabelle Zammit Pace were welcomed as new Council members. During this meeting, all resolutions pertaining to the change in Statute have been approved. In his address, the MIA President, William Spiteri Bailey made reference to changes in Bye-Laws which will be communicated to Members in due course. At the first meeting of the new Council, Mr William Spiteri Bailey was elected as President, Mr Fabio Axisa as Vice-president, Mr David Delicata as Secretary and Mr Noel Mizzi as Treasurer. MIA Annual Social Event The MIA Social Event held on 21st June 2018 at Villa Mdina, Naxxar, was a huge success with over 800 attendees. It was an occasion for all the members of the Institute to get together in an informal atmosphere. The sum of €2,855 was collected in aid of Dar Tal – Providenza and was topped by the Institute to amount to €4,000. The donation was presented to Fr. Martin Micallef by the president of the Institute William Spiteri Bailey. AGM The 54th Annual General Meeting of the Institute was held on the 12th July, at the Tower Training Centre in Swatar. The following members were elected for the two-year term 2018 - 2020: Mr Fabio Axisa, Mr Christopher Balzan, Mr David Delicata, Mr Jonathan Dingli, Mr Shawn Falzon, Dr Ivan Grixti and Ms Annabelle Zammit Pace. 06 Summer 2018
