Parents’ and Friends’ Association (PFA)
The Mother’s Auxiliary, Mother’s Club,
Father’s Club – however they were known,
parents have always been very involved at St
Anthony’s, raising money and supporting each
other in the struggles of bringing up their
children. They changed their name to the
Parents and Friends Auxiliary in 1983.

The Parents and Friends Association (P.F.A.) was formed to enable all parents, school staff
and interested people to participate in supporting the school. It is still in operation today. The
P.F.A. encouraged social interaction between all parents in a Christian atmosphere and helped
make St Anthony’s an enjoyable and rewarding School for children to attend. There was pride
in the multi-cultural membership and involvement was invited from all parents. Classroom
Liaison Representatives were introduced in 1984. The role of the class liaison was to
communicate PFA activities to parents and occasionally assist the teacher in organising
parents for classroom based activities.
Fundraising played a vital role and one of the
ways in which parents helped raise funds
was by assisting at the St Anthony’s fetes,
auction nights, trivia nights, sportsmen nights
, various raffles and other social events
which were enjoyable occasions.

Other regular events have included mother’s day and father’s day stalls, book fairs, family
photos, chocolate drives, bulb drives, calendar sales and supporting a food bank for families
in need. The funds raised have provided financial assistance for the school in areas such as
the purchase of computers, classroom furniture, playground refurbishment and school building
improvements.
The PFA has also operated the Uniform Shop for several years.
