I can remember many of the parishioners of the time including, Caylocks, O’Hallorans,<br />

Maisie Owens, Mr & Mrs Robinson, Mullalys etc.<br />

During my years at Primary level, teachers were: Prep/1 - Miss Doherty; Gr 2 - Miss<br />

Lehane, Gr 3 - Sr Gertrude, Gr 4 & 5 - Sr Mark; Gr 6 - Mother Anthony, Gr 7 - Sr<br />

Alphonsus (Diocesan Scholarship Year).<br />

Priests I remember include: Father Joyce, Father Murphy, Father Murray, Father<br />

Kennelly, Father Gannon, Father Gleeson.<br />

Outstanding events include:<br />

I. School balls & concerts, First Communion<br />

II. Rebuilding of church<br />

III. Building of stone fence - two men cut huge blocks of Mt Gambier <strong>St</strong>one on site<br />

for months on end<br />

IV. Fetes<br />

V. Fund-raising - house parties etc<br />

School memories include our wonderful “extras”<br />

Dancing with Miss Hunt<br />

Phys Ed - Mr McDonald<br />

Cooking - Miss Cottrell<br />

Elocution - Miss Mercovich<br />

Singing - Miss Mornement<br />

Saturday morning school during our scholarship year<br />

Another wonderful memory is of the performances of the “Padua Light Opera<br />

Company” - presenting Gilbert and Sullivan Operattas (Producer Cyril Holden) This<br />

went for many years.<br />
