STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS<br />

IJMO <strong>2018</strong><br />

International Junior Math Olympiad (Thailand)<br />

This time, 3 students participated in<br />

International Junior Math Olympiad<br />

(IJMO) that was held on <strong>July</strong> 28, <strong>2018</strong><br />

in Thailand.<br />

They are Nathan Alberto Setyo (P6),<br />

Kirnov Herois Tjitra (P4) and Markus<br />

Paskalis Tjitra (P5).<br />

IJMO is an annual international math<br />

competition that is held on different<br />

parts of Asia. IJMO is held by Singapore<br />

International Math Olympiad (SASMO)<br />

Challenge collaborating with National<br />

Math Association in Asian countries.<br />

They aim to identify and encourage<br />

the potential young generation<br />

with math aptitudes from every<br />

participating countries.<br />

IJMO participants ranges from Primary 2<br />

to Junior College 1 age group.<br />

The requirements to enter this<br />

competition is to have won Gold medal<br />

or Silver medal in SASMO competition.<br />

“IJMO trains student’s conceptual<br />

comprehension and logical thinking.<br />

This effectively maximize every students<br />

potential, enabling them to apply logical<br />

and analitycal skill in a higher capacity<br />

to solve the challenging Math Olympiads<br />

problems,” says Executive Principal of<br />

<strong>SPB</strong>, Ms. Regina Elisabeth T. B.Sc, M.Ed.<br />

Ms. Regina also expressed that<br />

competition like this helps in setting<br />

and improving student’s love for math<br />

subject. IJMO also hone student’s way of<br />

thinking, sharpening their inner potential.<br />

Prize Giving Ceremony and Gala Dinner<br />

was held on <strong>July</strong> 30, <strong>2018</strong> in Pattaya,<br />

Thailand. From 3 students participating,<br />

Nathan Alberto Setyo managed to win<br />

Bronze Award.<br />

With this feat, <strong>SPB</strong>’s School Principal,<br />

Ms. Regina Elisabeth T, B.Sc., M.Ed.<br />

extends her congratulations and wish<br />

for the students to not be self<br />

complacent, but instead to use this<br />

experience as a milestone to push<br />

themselves to reach higher and serves<br />

as a motivation for other students too”.
