STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
IJMO 2018
International Junior Math Olympiad (Thailand)
This time, 3 students participated in
International Junior Math Olympiad
(IJMO) that was held on July 28, 2018
in Thailand.
They are Nathan Alberto Setyo (P6),
Kirnov Herois Tjitra (P4) and Markus
Paskalis Tjitra (P5).
IJMO is an annual international math
competition that is held on different
parts of Asia. IJMO is held by Singapore
International Math Olympiad (SASMO)
Challenge collaborating with National
Math Association in Asian countries.
They aim to identify and encourage
the potential young generation
with math aptitudes from every
participating countries.
IJMO participants ranges from Primary 2
to Junior College 1 age group.
The requirements to enter this
competition is to have won Gold medal
or Silver medal in SASMO competition.
“IJMO trains student’s conceptual
comprehension and logical thinking.
This effectively maximize every students
potential, enabling them to apply logical
and analitycal skill in a higher capacity
to solve the challenging Math Olympiads
problems,” says Executive Principal of
SPB, Ms. Regina Elisabeth T. B.Sc, M.Ed.
Ms. Regina also expressed that
competition like this helps in setting
and improving student’s love for math
subject. IJMO also hone student’s way of
thinking, sharpening their inner potential.
Prize Giving Ceremony and Gala Dinner
was held on July 30, 2018 in Pattaya,
Thailand. From 3 students participating,
Nathan Alberto Setyo managed to win
Bronze Award.
With this feat, SPB’s School Principal,
Ms. Regina Elisabeth T, B.Sc., M.Ed.
extends her congratulations and wish
for the students to not be self
complacent, but instead to use this
experience as a milestone to push
themselves to reach higher and serves
as a motivation for other students too”.
