KUCHING WATERFRONT JAZZ FESTIVAL<br />

After a hugely successful debut, Kuching Waterfront<br />

Jazz Festival (KWJF) <strong>2018</strong> returns with an even more<br />

impressive line-up of artists. For two-days, festival-goers<br />

will be entertained with performances by well-known<br />

local and international jazz artistes including Malaysia’s<br />

own Atilia Haron, Singapore’s Alemay Fernandez, USA’s<br />

Richard Jackson, Australia’s Natalie Gillespie Band and<br />

Portugal’s Carmen D’Souza. Held outdoors overlooking<br />

the majestic Sarawak River, KWJF will also feature a<br />

bazaar selling local arts and craft, and plenty of food<br />

and beverage options including Sarawak’s well-known<br />

MALAYSIAN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA (MPO)<br />

Simultaneously marking Malaysia’s 61 years of independence and their own 20th<br />

anniversary, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra pays tribute to local musical<br />

composers such as Alfonso Soliano, Ahmad Merican and P. Ramlee in a special<br />

concert themed ‘Semalam Di Malaya’. Led by conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose,<br />

the two-day concert is a nostalgic stroll down memory lane that will see renowned<br />

Malaysian vocalists Aishah, Liza Hanim, Musly Ramlee and the Rachel Guerzo Trio<br />

in collaboration with the MPO breathe new life into timeless classics such as Semalam<br />

Di Malaya, Airmata Berderai, Tanah Pusaka and Hujan Di Tengah Hari.<br />
