There are many new materials and elements being<br />
developed that can be used to enhance or control the<br />
nature of sunlight.<br />
That eliminate glare.<br />
Or direct and channel the light intensity further into<br />
building spaces.<br />
Prismatic louvres can be placed on or into a window<br />
component to form a more complex composite<br />
window object that optically changes the way light<br />
travels through the window. In this situation, the<br />
directional prisms can be optically printed onto a film<br />
to bend the light.<br />
They can be used as an external panel that acts as a<br />
partial shading device, in this instance the materials<br />
may be thicker acrylics.<br />
The point here is that new technologies can be applied<br />
differently to a building by altering the scale in which it<br />
is applied. This is an underlying concept on all<br />
technologies and should be considered by the<br />
designer when looking for innovative, cutting edge<br />
design solutions.
