Obstruction Modification:
As indicated previously, adjoining buildings
obstruct the amount of possible daylight
entering a building.
This requires (yet another correcting), chart,
to the determined room depth.
So to follow our example from the previous
slide; We now have a building creating an
obscuring angle of say 20 o
With a room depth of 'just over twice the
window height'
We can use this table to see that a
correction factor of 0.77(approx) needs to
be applied to our unobstructed room depth.
In simple terms, when windows are
obscured in built up areas, the effective
depth of a room in this example is 77% less
than for a building that is unobstructed.
