FROM THE TINLEY JUNCTION
Large retail showroom
proposed in Tinley Park
industrial park
One of the country’s largest
plumbing and building
supplies wholesalers
is preparing to develop a
32,458-square-foot space
to open a showroom, sales
center and warehouse in
Tinley Park.
Virginia-based Ferguson
Enterprises petitioned the
Village for approval of a
special use permit to operate
a new business at 7950
W. 185th St. in the office
and restricted industrial
Hickory Creek planned unit
development zoning district.
Proposed plans include
a 10,494-square-foot
showroom for bath, kitchen,
plumbing and lighting supplies,
as well select appliances,
with 3,148 square
feet of space utilized as a
sales and will-call pickup
center for its product lines.
The remaining space is
slated to be used as a warehouse
and office.
“I like to say, ‘We do everything
but the floor up,’”
said Devon Glenn, director
of finance for Ferguson
Enterprises. “The destination
showroom is a model
we’re following across the
50 states, and we’re looking
to expand that in our district
here.”
Located within three
combined parcels housed
inside a 81,200-square foot
light industrial building, the
retailer would be open to
halloween
pumpkins if there is a
theme) for an entry, though
families can send one entry
per person from different
members of the family
(and they can be submitted
together).
the general public, but the
Village’s planning department
anticipates its primary
usage would be by contractors,
designers and other related
professionals.
“Ultimately our showroom
is more of a selection
center,” Glenn said. “Very
rarely would we have customers
take material from
our location here.”
The company’s warehouse
in Addison serves as
the distributor for its products,
she said.
A total of 22 people are
expected to be employed
by the location when fully
staffed, according to the
planning department’s executive
summary.
may be a bit in the way of
scary imagery (such is the
